Raaj Shaandilya's comedic film 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' has received a varied response at the box office, even though it had a robust opening initially. The movie staring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, 'Vicky Vidya...' was released alongside Alia Bhatt's 'Jigra' and has been performing better, as 'Jigra' caters to a more niche audience, primarily attracting viewers in multiplexes.
Post a solid opening weekend of Rs 18 crore (from Friday to Sunday), the film experienced a decline of about 30 percent on Monday, earning Rs 2.4 crore. The Sunday figure was approximately Rs 6 crore. Since Monday, the earnings have remained consistent, even on Tuesday. On Day 5, the film generated Rs 2.15 crore. In comparison, 'Jigra' earned Rs 1.6 crore on Tuesday. According to industry analysts, the film's title has deterred audiences in smaller cities, as many perceived it as unsuitable for family viewing with children. As a result, footfalls were low, even though 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' is more geared towards mass audiences than 'Jigra.' Additionally, both films were significantly impacted by the Navratri celebrations, which meant they did not benefit from the Dussehra holiday.
Director Raaj Shaandilya intends to provide a fun-filled experience for viewers, building on Rajkummar Rao's successful role in Stree 2. The film is set to be an enjoyable option for families and friends during the festive period.
