Tom Holland is set for a packed 2025 as he juggles two highly anticipated projects. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor has signed on for Christopher Nolan's next directorial venture, marking his first collaboration with the renowned filmmaker. Alongside this major role, Holland will also be busy filming Spider-Man 4, continuing his portrayal of the beloved superhero.
While details about Nolan’s new film are still under wraps, early reports suggest it will likely not have a modern-day setting. Like many of Nolan’s past works, such as Oppenheimer (2023) and Interstellar (2014), the film could explore either historical events or futuristic themes.
Matt Damon, a frequent collaborator with Nolan, is also confirmed to be part of the cast. The movie will be co-produced by Nolan's banner Syncopy Inc. and Universal Pictures, continuing the successful partnership that delivered the critically acclaimed Oppenheimer. Nolan’s split from Warner Bros. after the pandemic-era release of Tenet (2020) paved the way for this new collaboration.
Tom Holland will have his hands full, as he balances the shooting schedules of Nolan’s film and Spider-Man 4. Holland has been portraying Peter Parker since his debut in Captain America: Civil War (2016), and fans are eagerly awaiting his next appearance as the web-slinger. The fourth installment of the Spider-Man series will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The film is expected to be a major production, with Zendaya also reprising her role as MJ, though she will have other commitments afterward, including Dune 3, slated for 2026.
Holland's last major appearance was in the psychological thriller series The Crowded Room on Apple TV, and with no releases in 2024, 2025 will be a significant year for the actor. Along with these two major projects, there’s also a possibility that he will make an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday, directed by the Russo Brothers, scheduled to begin filming in early 2025.
With Christopher Nolan’s track record of delivering thought-provoking, visually stunning films and Holland’s immense popularity, this new collaboration is already generating excitement.
