Throwback to when Madhuri’s hubby was unable to recognise anyone but just Big B at their wedding reception

Bollywood’s queen Madhuri Dixit is celebrating 25 years of togetherness with her husband Dr. Nene. On October 17, the couple got married in a close-knit ceremony. As the couple is celebrating their anniversary today, let’s take a moment to revisit some cherished throwback memories from their beautiful journey together. Once the Dhak Dhak Girl shared that her husband could only identify Amitabh Bachchan at their wedding reception.

In a past interview on Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, Madhuri Dixit, the Devdas actress, talked about her husband, Dr. Shriram Nene, noting that he was unaware of her Bollywood career and hardly recognized any film stars. She mentioned, “The only celebrity he recognized at our reception was Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. He had watched his movie, Amar Akbar Anthony, back in school.” Madhuri added that when Nene spotted Big B, he remarked, “I think I know that face,” which led her to explain that he had seen him in that classic film.

She also shared in the earlier conversation that since her husband was unaware of her fame in India and her notable film career, she and her mother-in-law tried to get him to watch one of her songs, but it was unsuccessful. When they urged him to check out the track, Mr. Nene simply ignored it and asked if they could go out and do something else instead. When the host inquired about what attracted her to him, Dixit mentioned that, in some respects, they were quite similar, yet in other ways, they were very different.

The Dhak Dhak star further shared that an actor carries certain baggage with them. However, her husband had no preconceived ideas about her, which she thought was unlikely in India, where almost everyone knows her. For those who don’t know, Madhuri and Shriram, a cardiovascular surgeon from Los Angeles, got married at her elder brother's home in Southern California. After marrying him, Madhuri stepped away from her acting career and moved abroad for nearly a decade. The couple has two sons, Arin and Ryan.
