The Salian family, representing the former manager of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has initiated legal proceedings in the Bombay High Court, seeking a comprehensive re-examination of Disha Salian's death, which occurred in June 2020. Disha's father, Satish Salian, has filed a formal petition alleging that his daughter was subjected to "brutal assault and murder," followed by a politically motivated cover-up aimed at shielding influential individuals.
Reports indicate that the petition requests the court to order the filing of a formal police complaint (FIR) against Aaditya Thackeray, a leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), and to transfer the investigative responsibilities to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Nilesh Ojha, the Salian family's legal representative, confirmed that the petition is in the process of being submitted and anticipates its official registration with the High Court's registry department on Thursday.
The legal argument presented in the petition asserts that the Mumbai Police prematurely classified Disha's death as a suicide or accidental fatality without conducting a thorough evaluation of forensic evidence, circumstantial indicators, and eyewitness accounts. Initially, the family expressed confidence in the city police's investigative efforts, but they now harbor suspicions of a deliberate cover-up.
Disha Salian, former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, passed away on June 8, 2020, after reportedly falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad area. The Mumbai Police, at that time, categorized the incident as an Accidental Death Report (ADR). Just days later, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was found deceased in his Bandra apartment. While the city police initially attributed Sushant's death to suicide, the investigation was subsequently transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The recent petition filed by Disha Salian's family has sparked diverse reactions from political figures. Kishori Pednekar, a spokesperson for the Shiv Sena (UBT), questioned the timing of the petition, hinting at a potential orchestrated plan behind its emergence after a period of over four years. She highlighted that previous inquiries, including those conducted by the CID and an SIT, had already been undertaken.
As of this moment, there has been no official statement from Aaditya Thackeray or representatives of the Shiv Sena (UBT) regarding the accusations outlined in the petition. The Bombay High Court is expected to examine the plea and decide on the appropriate course of action concerning the requested fresh investigation into Disha Salian's death.
