In the wake of Sunjay Kapur's passing, a dispute has emerged between his mother and wife concerning a global company valued at ?30,000 crore. Rani Kapur, Sunjay's mother, is attempting to halt an Annual General Meeting of Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar). She alleges she was coerced into signing documents after Sunjay's death on June 23rd and asserts she is the sole representative of the Kapur family's stake in the auto components company. While not explicitly naming anyone, her objection targets the "passing of a resolution to appoint certain directors," which is interpreted as a reference to Sunjay's wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur.

The company proceeded with its AGM on July 25, despite Rani Kapur's objections, stating she hasn't been a shareholder since 2019. Priya Sachdev Kapur has been appointed as a non-executive director. Priya has yet to comment on the situation.

Rani Kapur is asserting that a will from June 30, 2015, names her as the sole beneficiary of her late husband Surinder Kapur's estate, based on a will from 10 years ago. Rani Kapur also described her son's death in the UK as having occurred in "highly suspicious and unexplained circumstances.”

Sunjay Kapur's last rites took place in New Delhi on June 19, with a prayer meet scheduled for June 22 at the Taj Palace Hotel in Delhi. The funeral was attended by Karisma Kapoor, his former wife.
