The sudden death of businessman Sunjay Kapur, ex-husband of actor Karisma Kapoor, has sparked a serious legal and emotional row. His mother, Rani Kapur, has alleged that her son did not die of natural causes and has accused several individuals of being part of what she calls a “transnational conspiracy.” She has now taken her case to authorities in the United Kingdom, where Sunjay passed away.
In a detailed letter to British officials, Rani claimed that there is “credible and concerning evidence” to suggest her son’s death may have involved foul play. She named a range of potential offences murder, conspiracy, forgery, fraud, and financial misconduct insisting that the matter demands a full criminal investigation under UK law.
Among those named in her complaint is Sunjay’s wife, Priya Kapur. Rani has alleged that individuals who stood to benefit financially from Sunjay’s death may have had a role to play. She pointed to questionable asset transfers, forged documents, and alleged legal manipulations as part of a larger effort to gain control over his estate and business holdings. “There are compelling reasons to believe his death may have been facilitated or orchestrated as part of a coordinated transnational conspiracy,” her letter reads, adding that entities in India, the UK, and possibly the US may have been involved.
Rani has also raised concerns with the board of Sona Comstar, the family-run business her husband helped establish. She claimed she has been denied access to vital records and has not been consulted on decisions regarding board appointments. According to her, despite her longstanding association with the company, she has been left without financial support or clarity since Sunjay’s passing.
In a separate interview with ANI, Rani spoke of her grief and her commitment to seeking the truth. She said she doesn’t yet know how or why her son died and is determined to protect both his legacy and the integrity of the business he once led. “I owe it to my husband and son,” she said, “to see that justice is served.”
