Sitaare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan and Genelia D’Souza, is resonating with audiences. The film has earned over Rs. 70 crore in just five days and is steadily approaching the Rs. 100 crore mark. According to a Sacnilk report, the film's total collection in India reached Rs. 75.15 crore by its first Tuesday.
Sitaare Zameen Par had a strong opening weekend, earning approximately Rs. 50 crore. However, the film experienced a significant drop on its first Monday, following a successful Saturday and Sunday. With a loss of over 60%, it collected Rs. 8.5 crore across all languages (Hindi: Rs. 8.4 crore; Tamil: Rs. 0.05 crore; Telugu: Rs. 0.05 crore). A dip in business during weekdays is common in the film industry. Notably, early estimates suggest that Sitaare Zameen Par maintained a similar performance on Tuesday, earning Rs. 8.5 crore, bringing the total to Rs. 75.15 crore.
Sitaare Zameen Par, a sports comedy-drama, is directed by R. S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit. The film marks the Hindi cinema debut of several actors, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, and Samvit Desai. The cast also features Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. Furthermore, the film features a supporting cast of experienced actors such as Dolly Ahluwalia, Gurpal Singh, Brijendra Kala, and Ankita Sehgal, promising a well-rounded ensemble. The film is a spiritual successor to the beloved Taare Zameen Par.
India Forums gave 4 ratings to the films. A part of our review read, "The film's biggest strength lies in how it normalises disability without pity. It doesn't try to turn the characters into "inspirations" or glorify them in a preachy way. Instead, it invites the audience to see them simply as individuals with their own personalities, dreams, and quirks. Prasanna manages to avoid melodrama, choosing instead to root the story in realism and restraint. The result is a film that offers empathy over sympathy, laughter over lament, and inclusion over tokenism. Sitaare Zameen Par is not just a comeback for Aamir Khan, it's a return to storytelling that makes you feel things. It delivers a message without shouting it. It talks about empathy, acceptance, and inner healing, but through laughter, tears, and love."
