A tragic incident struck Kota, Rajasthan, in the early hours of Sunday when a fire inside a residential apartment claimed the lives of two young brothers. Among them was eight-year-old Veer Sharma, who had recently won hearts through his portrayal of Pushkal in Sony SAB’s mythological show Shrimad Ramayan. His elder brother, Shoriya Sharma, also perished in the blaze, leaving the family and the television fraternity in deep shock.

The incident took place around 2 a.m. in a fourth-floor flat of the Deepshree building, located near the Anantpura police station area of Kota. At the time of the accident, both children were asleep inside the apartment. Their mother, actress Rita Sharma, who is known for her work in television, was in Mumbai pursuing her professional commitments, while their father, Jitendra Sharma, a teacher associated with a coaching institute, was away attending a late-night bhajan program. The boys had been left at home on their own.

According to police officials, the initial spark of the fire is suspected to have come from a short circuit. The flames reportedly began in the drawing room of the flat and quickly filled the space with smoke. While the fire itself did not spread extensively to other parts of the home, the heavy smoke engulfed the apartment, which investigators believe led to the suffocation of the children.

Neighbours, who noticed smoke billowing from the residence, rushed to help. They forced open the main door and found the children unconscious. Both boys were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital; however, doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Superintendent of Police Tejeshwani Goutam visited the scene and confirmed that the likely cause was an electrical malfunction. She explained that the children were sleeping at the time of the incident, and while the flames were contained in one room, the toxic fumes proved fatal. Circle Inspector Bhupendra Singh, who was also present, noted the timely efforts of local residents who tried to intervene but sadly could not save the children’s lives.

The deaths of Veer and Shoriya have left a void not only in their family but also in the entertainment world, where the young actor had only just begun his journey. The incident serves as a devastating reminder of the dangers posed by electrical faults in residential buildings, and the unbearable loss underscores the fragility of life.
