Shah Rukh Khan's birthday surprise for fans: 'Jawan' released on Netflix with the extended cut

Shah Rukh Khan has not only delivered a career-defining hit with his action-packed drama 'Jawan' but has also set a new industry milestone in Bollywood. Celebrating his 58th birthday, the iconic actor has presented a grand surprise to his legions of fans by unveiling the extended cut of the movie on Netflix, marking a heartfelt tribute to his vast fanbase.

Directed by Atlee, "Jawan" has not only emerged as Shah Rukh Khan's most significant success but has also etched its name as the new industry hit in Bollywood, amassing over 590 crores nett from its Hindi version alone. The film's colossal success transcends borders as it ranks as the all-time fifth biggest grosser in Indian cinema, with a staggering gross collection exceeding 1150 crores.

Netflix, the popular OTT platform, had been building anticipation by dropping hints about the release date of "Jawan." Six days prior to Shah Rukh Khan's birthday, the streaming giant initiated a countdown for "SRK's Janamdin," teasing fans with a substantial announcement. 

As the special day arrived, Netflix released the extended cut of the blockbuster, available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. A promotional video featuring Shah Rukh Khan and the ensemble cast accompanied the release, with SRK adding his trademark wit to the proceedings, urging the platform to make the movie available without delay.

"Jawan" casts Shah Rukh Khan as the central character, a man with a relentless drive to eliminate corruption from society. The film presents a captivating narrative where SRK's character transitions from a witty persona to a formidable force as the story unfolds. The mystery of his bandaged and masked warrior, liberating a village, is intricately interwoven with the enigmatic bald man who holds people hostage in Mumbai's metro.

The movie boasts an impressive ensemble of actors, including Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Ridhi Dogra, Lehar Khan, Sunil Grover, and Girija Oak, all playing pivotal roles. Produced by Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner, the film's music is composed by the talented Anirudh Ravichander.
