Zubeen Garg’s demise has shocked and saddened the people of Assam, who just cannot accept that he is no more. His body was flown down from Singapore to Delhi and then transported to Guwahati. It is now kept at Sarusajai Stadium where people can pay homage to him. While residents of Guwahati have been a part of his condolence gathering from the airport to his residence and the stadium, more are expected. His fans from other cities of Assam like Tezpur, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh will also come to see his mortal remains. The cremation will happen on September 23, 2025.

Amul has paid a tribute to Zubeen Garg on billboards all over. Now, the Limca Book Of World Records has said that Zubeen Garg’s condolence congregation procession had two million people. It is the fourth highest in the world after singer Michael Jackson, Pope Francis and Queen Elizabeth. Himanta Biswa Sarma the CM of Assam said that he lived like a king, and Assam is sending him off like an emperor. The crowds have shocked people in India. Many felt young Assamese learnt from their parents how they love someone who supports them and arts. People said this was the magic of music that struck a chord in every heart.

No VIP culture allowed for politicians!

Himanta Biswa Sarma said he has told the Chief Secretary that no VIP culture will be allowed. He said he will not be at the Sarusajai Stadium but every political person has to stand in line like everyone else. He said common folks from different parts of Assam is going the extra mile to be present for his final journey. Zubeen Garg's demise has been mourned by Assamese in various parts of India. The cremation will take place at Kamaruchi in Kamrup, Assam while the ashes will be taken to Jorhat. Two memorials will be built for him.
