Ranveer Singh's Upcoming Shaktimaan-Inspired Superhero Film to Feature Wamiqa Gabbi as the Female Lead

Wamiqa Gabbi has been making waves online ever since her impressive performance in Baby John, where she starred alongside Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh. Her talent has caught the eye of many, and now, fresh reports suggest that she may soon be seen opposite Ranveer Singh in a superhero film inspired by the legendary Shaktimaan.

According to a report by Mid-Day, Wamiqa is reportedly the frontrunner to star in Basil Joseph’s ambitious superhero project, which is an adaptation of the iconic Indian superhero, Shaktimaan. The film, which will be led by Ranveer Singh, is generating excitement among fans, given the legacy of Shaktimaan in Indian pop culture.

A source close to the project mentioned that Wamiqa’s growing reputation for her versatile performances in both Hindi and regional cinema makes her a perfect fit for the film. The actress is also rumored to be in talks for a Telugu film with popular actor Nani. The source revealed, “While discussions are still ongoing, the potential pairing of Wamiqa and Ranveer in Basil’s film would bring a fresh dynamic to a project that’s been in development for five years.”

Though there has been no official confirmation yet, insiders confirm that pre-production is already underway. Basil Joseph, who is known for directing Minnal Murali, is busy working on the script and holding meetings with Ranveer Singh in Mumbai. “Once the script is locked and schedules are finalized, the casting will be confirmed,” the source added. It is expected that Ranveer Singh will shift his focus to this superhero film after completing his current spy thriller project with Aditya Dhar in March.

Earlier reports by Pinkvilla indicated that the Shaktimaan adaptation has been in the writing phase for over three years. With Basil Joseph at the helm, and support from Sony Pictures India and Sajid Nadiadwala, the film is expected to begin filming in May 2025, with a grand release planned for 2026.
