Randeep Hooda pays tribute to Savarkar: Visits birthplace, pens heartfelt note

"Swatantrya Veer Savarkar," featuring Randeep Hooda and Ankita Lokhande, hit theaters on March 22. It follows the remarkable journey of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar from the early 1900s until his demise. Randeep's portrayal of the titular character has garnered widespread acclaim for his exceptional acting prowess.

Following the film's release, Randeep embarked on a poignant journey to Vinayak Damodar Savarkar's birthplace in Bhagur, Nashik. Immersed in the historic significance of the locale, he penned a heartfelt note, reflecting on the sacrifices and courage that defined Savarkar's legacy.

Sharing the pictures he wrote,

"Visiting the birthplace of#SwatantryaVeerSavarkar, whose life and story always shrouded by mystery, suspicion and controversy , first by the British and then after independence by Indian politicians and yet who doesn’t give up , keeps fighting by hook or by crook, keeps inspiring and influencing revolutionaries, keeps being relevant decades after he’s gone. One soaks in the energy of this place, where sacrifices and courage were rewarded with Kaala Paani and omission from glory, where the seeds of India’s first secret society were planted by the brothers with the last name …Savarkar 🇮🇳🇮🇳 Vande Mataram! P.s. Felt humbled and travelled back in time. They have sold over a lakh books since the movie released. More people should come and visit the #VeerSavarkar smarak at Shivaji chowk Bhagur, Nashik."

Directed by Randeep Hooda himself, "Swatantrya Veer Savarkar" chronicles Savarkar's journey from a top university student to a formidable revolutionary figure. His early advocacy for reform and provocative writings, including a book on India's revolt of 1857, propelled him to the forefront of the independence movement, making him a thorn in the side of British colonial rule.
