After a prolific acting career with more than 50 films to her credit, Tisca Chopra ventured into the world of directing in 2020 with her well-received short film "Rubaru." The poignant portrayal of a middle-aged actress grappling with her inner and outer selves garnered praise from audiences and critics alike. Encouraged by the positive response, Tisca is now ready to take her directorial journey a step further by helming her first feature film later this year.
For her maiden feature directorial project, Tisca Chopra has chosen the talented actress Radhika Apte to lead the cast. The suspense thriller, tentatively titled "A Train from Chaprola," promises to be an intriguing murder mystery with Radhika portraying a strong and confident modern woman, layered with complex emotions. Earlier it was reported that Kareena Kapoor Khan would lead this film, but she refused being a part of yet another murder mystery just after her forthcoming project with Hansal Mehta. Tisca herself has penned the gripping script for the film, and the shooting is scheduled to commence in the picturesque locales of Uttarakhand in September.
The film's producer, renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra, is making his foray into the world of production with this project under his banner, Stage 5. This marks an exciting new chapter for him as he teams up with Jio Studios for three noteworthy ventures. The collaboration promises to bring fresh and captivating stories to the screen.
In addition to "A Train from Chaprola," Malhotra's production house has two other compelling projects lined up. The second venture, titled "Bun Tikki," will be helmed by director Faraz Arif Ansari and revolves around a heartfelt father-son relationship. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast with Abhay Deol, Shabana Azmi, and Zeenat Aman in pivotal roles. The shooting for "Bun Tikki" is slated to commence in October.
For the third project, titled "Chalat Musafir," Manish Malhotra has entrusted the lead role to the versatile actor Vijay Varma. Under the direction of Vibhu Puri, known for his work in "Hawaizaada," the film is set to take audiences on an intriguing journey.
Tisca Chopra's directorial debut, backed by Manish Malhotra's production expertise, promises to be a thrilling cinematic experience with Radhika Apte at the helm. As shooting for "A Train from Chaprola" begins in the serene locales of Uttarakhand, cinephiles eagerly await the revelation of this gripping suspense thriller.
