The veteran actress' unforgettable role as Daksha, the 'ara ra ra ra' lady, from 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' has come through a long way in an extremely successful journey.
The actress is set to play the role of a grandmother, affectionately called 'baa' in the upcoming show, 'Tamanna.' This role will be first of a kind for her.
Excited about the role she tells us, "I am very happy to play this role, as it is the first time I am doing it. The comparisons were straight away in place as my mother, Sarita Joshi who is a legendary actress who is also currently portraying the role of a mother on 'Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi.' I literally said to people, dekho zamana kaisa aa gaya hai, my mother and I are both playing mothers on-screen despite of the age difference. (laughs)"
She added, "I was initially skeptical of taking up this role, but then I saw today's young girls playing mothers and some of them even grandmothers, why can't I! After all I am a mother in my real life and my camaraderie with my mother will help me even more in portraying it. Then I took up the role and I am enjoying playing it now."
On the role and the show she said, "Its a show set in the backdrop of Jamnagar. 'Tamanna' a quintessential Gujarati household and hence the word 'baa' is being used. And I know many people would wonder the novelty in playing this character, as it has been played so many times and in so many ways. But this is a totally different take at the character. Its not the typical grandmother and it has a lot of shades to it. The writers have done a brilliant job in weaving the character and the show. It is set to go on-air from February 1st and I am excited about it."
