Sukumar’s Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule continues its remarkable box office run, even amidst controversy. Co-starring Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, the film has dominated Indian and global markets since its release on December 5.
According to Sacnilk.com, the film has amassed ?1089.51 crore in India after 20 days, with a single-day collection of ?14.25 crore on its third Tuesday. Globally, the movie has surpassed ?1500 crore, as confirmed by team Pushpa. Domestically, Pushpa 2 registered a staggering ?725.8 crore in its first week and ?264.8 crore in its second week.
However, the film’s success has been overshadowed by controversy linked to the Sandhya Theatre tragedy on December 4. Allegations surrounding Allu Arjun emerged after a stampede at the premiere claimed a woman’s life. Protesters vandalized the actor’s house, demanding support for the victim’s family. The residence has since been shielded with white sheets and curtains.
Producers Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar extended a ?50 lakh donation to the victim’s family, presented at Hyderabad’s KIMS Hospital in the presence of Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.
On Tuesday, Allu Arjun appeared before Hyderabad Police at Chikkadpally Police Station following a summons regarding the incident. Authorities confirmed that the actor was asked to “cooperate” with the ongoing investigation.
Despite these challenges, Pushpa 2: The Rule remains unstoppable at the box office, cementing its place as a cinematic phenomenon.
