Priyanka Chopra bows out of 'Met Gala 2024': Report

Priyanka Chopra has announced her absence from the highly anticipated Met Gala 2024. The Bollywood starlet cited her busy shooting schedule for her upcoming film, Heads of State, in Europe as the reason behind her decision to skip the prestigious fashion extravaganza.

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Chopra expressed her disappointment at missing the event while emphasizing her excitement to witness the creative flair showcased by attendees. Despite not attending, she eagerly anticipated seeing the contributions of fellow celebrities, particularly highlighting her admiration for Zendaya. 

She said, “I don’t even know who’s going this year. I’m definitely not attending this year because I’m filming, but I think I really do enjoy watching people’s creativity during the Met Gala and I am really excited to see how it will turn out. I actually have not read anything about who all is going this year,”

Priyanka Chopra told Access Hollywood. When she was informed that Zendaya will be present, Priyanka said, “She’s amazing, so we definitely look forward to her.”

Chopra, who has graced the Met Gala three times in the past, made her debut at the renowned event in 2017 alongside her now-husband, Nick Jonas. Although she will be missed on this occasion, her past appearances have left an indelible mark on the fashion world.

Scheduled annually on the first Monday in May, this year's Met Gala is themed 'The Garden of Time,' drawing inspiration from JG Ballard's 1962 short story of the same name. Alongside Zendaya and Jennifer, co-chairs include Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth, with Jonathan Anderson of Loewe and Shou Zi Chew of TikTok serving as honorary chairs.
