World Mental Health Day is a crucial reminder that mental health should be treated with the same importance as physical health. Yet, the stigma surrounding mental health issues continues to hinder many from seeking the help they need. In today's fast-paced and demanding world, especially in creative industries like film and art, the pressure to perform often results in emotional and mental exhaustion. Actress Pragya Jaiswal has been vocal about the importance of discussing mental health.
Jaiswal, known for her grace and versatility in films like Antim and Kanche, is no stranger to the emotional demands of the acting profession. Reflecting on the significance of mental health, she shared,
"It's essential that we begin having more open and honest discussions about mental health, especially in today’s society. The lingering stigma surrounding mental health issues often prevents individuals from seeking help or even acknowledging their struggles. Mental health is just as crucial as physical health, and neglecting it can lead to long-term consequences that impact not only the individual but also their families, friends, and communities."
She added, "As an artist, I understand the emotional and mental exhaustion that can come with our profession. There are times when we feel completely drained, and seeking therapy becomes a necessary and healthy outlet. It’s important to recognize that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. By normalizing these conversations and supporting one another, we can help break the silence around mental health and create a space where people feel safe to share their experiences without fear of judgment. Only through openness and mutual support can we truly combat the stigma and make a difference in the lives of those struggling."
Jaiswal’s advocacy for mental health is a reminder that seeking therapy is not a sign of weakness, but of strength. By normalizing these conversations, especially on platforms like World Mental Health Day, society can move toward creating a supportive space where individuals feel safe to seek help without judgment.
Most recently, she appeared in the film Khel Khel Mein, sharing the screen with Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor, and Aditya Seal. Her presence in this ensemble cast added to the film's appeal, showing her ability to hold her own among seasoned actors.
