Paresh Rawal confirmed in June that he would return to Hera Pheri 3, reuniting with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, much to the delight of fans. Earlier this year, his departure from the Priyadarshan directorial had surprised Akshay, who owns the franchise rights. Paresh shared details about the shooting schedule of Hera Pheri 3.
"It's a work in progress. We'll start shooting for the film in February-March next year," he says. Paresh's exit reportedly caused financial issues for the production, leading Akshay to consider legal action. Paresh explained his reasons for leaving and returned the signing amount with interest. Did this situation affect his relationship with Priyadarshan, both personally and professionally?
"A lot has happened but that hasn't soured my relationship with Priyadarshan. Aise rishta kharab nahi hota hai. In fact, what has happened is that it has further solidified our equation. Through all of this, we now know each in a sharper and better way. Ghaav bhar gaya hai. Our relationship is very transparent," tells Paresh to News18. Paresh recently finished filming Priyadarshan's Bollywood comeback, Bhoot Bangla. The two have collaborated on over ten films, and Hera Pheri 3 will be their fifteenth project together.
Although Paresh once expressed weariness with his Baburao Ganpatrao Apte role in the Hera Pheri series, he showed interest in a Baburao spin-off. However, the likelihood of such a film seems low now. "We (Priyadarshan and I) haven't discussed a spin-off on Baburao. A film is a collaborative effort. Ek film sabki wajah se banti hai. I don't think Baburao can exist on his own. You'll need Shyam and Raju too," he remarks.
Paresh said he is not a greedy or foolish actor and doesn't believe the world revolves around him. He added that if a standalone film ever happens, Shyam and Raju must also be involved. Previously, Paresh had expressed his dissatisfaction with Phir Hera Pheri, noting that Suniel was the only one who remained true to his character.
"When they were making Phir Hera Pheri, they got over-confident. It shouldn't have happened. Premise and characters like in Hera Pheri rarely come our way. Aur usko leke bada nazakat se, bada sambhal ke chalna chahiye. It shouldn't be robbed of its sanctity. When I was dubbing for Phir Hera Pheri, I realised ki humne ganda paap kar diya hai. The situation was such that we did what we did in that film but we shouldn't have," he had said.
Paresh told News18 that despite everything, his relationship with Priyadarshan hasn't been damaged. He explained that their bond has, in fact, strengthened, and they now understand each other better. He added that "the wound has healed" and their relationship is very transparent. Paresh recently completed filming Priyadarshan's Bollywood comeback, Bhoot Bangla. The two have worked together on over ten films, and Hera Pheri 3 will be their fifteenth project.
