Malaika Arora's Father Anil Arora Dies By Suicide

Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora's father, Anil Arora, passed away by suicide on Wednesday afternoon. Mumbai Police reported that he jumped from the terrace of his residence in Mumbai's Bandra. The family has not yet issued a statement regarding this heartbreaking event.

As per reports, senior officers from the Mumbai police have quickly responded to the scene, and more information is anticipated. Authorities are currently probing to uncover the reasons behind the incident. In a circulating video on social media, Arbaaz Khan, Malaika's ex-husband and actor-producer, was observed outside Anil Arora's residence on Wednesday, engaging with police officials and assessing the situation. The vicinity of the house experienced a significant police presence to maintain privacy and order during this delicate period. An ambulance was also positioned outside the building.

According to sources, Malaika's mother, Joyce, informed the police that Anil Arora had a routine of reading newspapers on the balcony every morning. She mentioned to the police that despite being divorced, they had been living together again for the past few years. Joyce recounted that on Wednesday morning, upon noticing her ex-husband's slippers in the living room, she went to check the balcony. Not finding him there, she looked down and saw the building watchman calling for help. Joyce also informed the police that Anil Arora was not dealing with any serious illness; he only had some knee discomfort. He had opted for Voluntary Retirement Service (VRS) from the Merchant Navy.

The actress previously revealed that she was only 11 years old when her parents, Joyce Polycarp and Anil Arora, split up. Following the separation, Malaika and her younger sister, Amrita Arora, who was just 6 back then, were mainly brought up by their mother. After the split, their mother moved from Thane to Chembur with both daughters.

In a magazine interview, Malaika had shared about her parents' split. The actress also feels that her core values in life help maintain her well-being. She had said, “My parents’ separation allowed me to observe my mother through a new and unique lens. I learned a rock-steady work ethic and the value of getting up each morning to do whatever it takes to become fiercely independent." She had added, “I had a wonderful childhood, but it wasn’t easy. In fact, in retrospect, the word I would use to describe it is tumultuous. But tough times teach you important lessons too."
