As reports of a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan surfaced, reactions poured in from Bollywood’s leading names. While most expressed hope and support, some voices struck a more cautious tone, calling for vigilance in the face of repeated cross-border hostilities.
On Saturday, news broke that India and Pakistan had agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire following direct diplomatic talks. This was followed by a statement from the US, where President Donald Trump mentioned the development, which he said aimed at reducing tensions between the two nations.
Shortly after the announcement, several celebrities took to social media to share their reactions. Kareena Kapoor Khan posted “Rab Rakha. Jai Hind” on her Instagram story, while her sister Karisma Kapoor shared the Indian flag with the words “Jai Hind. Love and Peace.” Parineeti Chopra wrote, “Om Namah Shivaay,” and Ananya Panday added a folded hand emoji to her post. Karan Johar also expressed support by sharing heart and prayer emojis.
Malaika Arora wrote, “Thank God,” and actress Ileana D’Cruz, along with Rasha Thadani and others, also acknowledged the development online.
However, not everyone viewed the ceasefire announcement without scrutiny. Raveena Tandon, in a strongly worded Instagram post, welcomed the move but made it clear that India must not be exposed to future attacks. She wrote, “If this is true, then it’s a welcome decision. #ceasefire. But make no mistake, the day India bleeds again #statesponsoredterrorism it will be an act of war and then there will be hell to pay.”
She further commented on Pakistan’s recent IMF loan, saying, “The #IMF had better keep track of where their money goes… more ammunition bought or whatever. But now AND never should Bharat Bleed Again.”
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur also weighed in on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Hopefully all those that support terrorism against India now realise our leadership will not hold back in taking strict and appropriate action.”
While the entertainment industry often stays silent on sensitive geopolitical issues, the varied reactions to the ceasefire underline the complex emotions that such developments evoke among public figures in India.
However, just hours after the agreement was announced, reports emerged that Pakistan had violated the ceasefire. Shelling was reported along the Line of Control, raising fresh concerns about the reliability of the truce. This sudden breach dampened the cautious optimism many had expressed and reignited debates around trust and accountability.
