Kalki Koechlin opens up about backlash for welcoming daughter out of wedlock

Actress Kalki Koechlin is making headlines once again as she prepares for the release of the much-awaited Made In Heaven Season 2. But beyond her on-screen achievements, Kalki recently shared her personal journey and the challenges she faced with partner Guy Hershberg after welcoming their daughter Sappho out of wedlock in 2020.

In a candid interview with Mashable India, Kalki Koechlin addressed the backlash she and Guy received for not conforming to traditional norms. Speaking fearlessly, the actress revealed that it was a mutual decision not to get married. Guy Hershberg, her partner, was clear about not being interested in marriage, and Kalki, who had previously been married to director Anurag Kashyap and divorced, respected his stance. Together, they made a conscious choice to forgo marriage while living together in a loving relationship.

For the unversed, the couple's journey began when they met during an all-girls trip to Israel. Guy, who attended the same music school as one of Kalki's friends, joined the trip, and fate brought them together.

Welcoming their daughter Sappho in 2020 brought immense joy to Kalki and Guy's lives. They celebrated the arrival of their beautiful child in Goa, where they reside. Despite living in Goa, Kalki often travels to Mumbai for work commitments. 

In her upcoming project, Made In Heaven Season 2, Kalki will once again showcase her exceptional acting skills. The second season, consisting of seven episodes, is set to release on Prime Video on August 10. Directed by a talented team, including Alankrita Shrivastava, Neeraj Ghaywan, Nitya Mehra, Reema Kagti, and Zoya Akhtar, the show promises to captivate the audience with its intriguing storyline.
