In the footsteps of Priyanka Chopra, Taapsee Pannu breaks silence on Bollywood camps and Individual agency

Priyanka Chopra recently opened up about the prevalence of Bollywood camps that often influence casting decisions in the industry. Emphasizing the importance of discussing merit-based opportunities, she expressed the need to eliminate the dominance of such camps. In a similar vein, Taapsee Pannu was asked about her stance on Bollywood camps, and while she avoided directly commenting on others' statements, she shared her own perspective. Acknowledging the existence of Bollywood camps, she stated that they have been a part of the industry for a long time.

During an interview with Hindustan Times, Taapsee Pannu affirmed, 

"Bollywood camps are not unknown to people. They have always been present. They can be based on an actor's friend circle, a specific agency, or a group they are associated with, and people's loyalties vary accordingly." 

Despite this acknowledgment, Taapsee does not harbor any resentment towards the film industry. She refrains from blaming the industry for favoring insiders and believes that everyone has the right to choose their collaborators in the film industry. Taapsee emphasized that she cannot fault individuals for prioritizing their own careers.

Taapsee admitted that she was always aware of the bias and unfairness prevalent in the industry, but she refuses to let it affect her outlook. She acknowledged the challenging nature of the field and the inevitable hurdles she would face. 

"If, after considering all this, you still decide to be a part of this industry, then it is your choice, and you cannot complain about it later," Taapsee remarked.

 She further mentioned that the existence of camps and favoritism is not exclusive to the film industry but can be observed to some extent in most industries, with the exception of sports. According to Taapsee, individuals without a background in the film industry must consistently deliver exceptional work over an extended period and prove themselves with each project to establish their own place.
