Imtiaz Ali chose Ranbir Kapoor over John Abraham for Rockstar for this reason

Ranbir Kapoor, the heartthrob of Bollywood, has revealed an interesting fact about one of his most memorable films, Rockstar. In a recent fan interaction, the actor shared that the film was initially offered to John Abraham. 

Rockstar, which was a major hit at the box office, marked the debut of Nargis Fakhri in Bollywood. The film's success was attributed to the brilliant acting of Ranbir Kapoor, the engaging script, and the soul-stirring music. Ranbir did complete justice to the character of Janardhan Jakhar, a simpleton who turns into a Rockstar.

During the fan interaction, Ranbir also shared a funny incident that took place during the making of the film. He revealed that when Imtiaz Ali approached him for the film, he had actually offered him a different project based on marketing. 

However, during their conversation, Ranbir reminded Imtiaz about Rockstar, and that's when the actor expressed his desire to work on it.  It was then that the director said, “The guy who wrote the story for Rockstar, he himself wanted to direct and act in it so for that reason he did not make the film. Anyway, we decided to part ways and three months later, he told me that he spoke to that guy. So that’s how Rockstar happened.” 

Another reason that made Imtiaz chose Ranbir over John Abraham was  because his new version of the protagonist was a much younger character. 

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Ranbir Kapoor was last seen in the film 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar' alongside Shraddha Kapoor. He recently wrapped up filming for 'Animal' and will star alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol in the film.
