I’m really fond of Aneri Vajani as we’re alike: Romanch Mehta of ‘Baaghin’

The new GEC Atrangii TV and it’s OTT app will bring to the audiences ‘Baghin’ - the battle between MAN vs BEAST.  The very talented actor Aneri Vajani has been roped in to play the female lead. For the first time on Indian television, the heroine is possessed by the spirit of a Baghin (a tigress) and Aneri will essaying this character. 

Romanch Mehta plays a prominent character in the show. India Forums got in touch with the actor and quizzed him about shooting for the web show, his character, bond with co-actors and more. Read on the interview below.

Tell us a little about the web show that you've begun shooting?

The name of the web show is ‘Baaghin’ and it’s a story about a family which has three brothers and a village where they pray to tigress and their believe towards her. I am playing the second brother (Shekhar) who is devoted to his elder brother and will be a mixture of positive and negative depends on the story and situations... The show is produced by Solflicks filmworks and Gurudev Bhalla.. The director of the show is Sarthak Dasgupta... it’s an OTT web show season 1 is initially of 100 episodes. Other cast includes Aneri Vajani, Ansh Bagri, Iqbal Azad, Krip Suri, Zeeshan Khan etc it’s for leading OTT platforms.

What made you say a yes to it?

The story and my character Shekhar was really great and as the story goes it becomes more and more interesting, and I have done OTT movie before but haven’t done the series so I really wanted to do that also as an Actor you always want to explore new characters and it gives you inner satisfaction for doing justice to your character.

Most of my scenes in 'Baaghin' are with onscreen brothers Iqbal Azad and Krip Suri so we are bonding and I am very fond of Aneri Vajani as she is just like me and we talk a lot not just while shooting but after pack up too. As of now, all of us have a good relationship with each other and I wish it grows by each passing day because that’s very important for any successful show.

How is it to work with your co-actors and who are you most found of?

It’s great working with all the actors and slowly we are getting to know each other personally more. Most of my scenes are with onscreen brothers Iqbal Azad and Krip Suri so we are bonding and I am very fond of Aneri Vajani as she is just like me and we talk a lot not just while shooting but after pack up too. As of now, all of us have a good relationship with each other and I wish it grows by each passing day because that’s very important for any successful show.

Is the world of TV different from OTT?

I think as an actor you have to perform your best whatever medium you’re working on, but what I think is different is the way of shooting. We don’t have next day telecast issues in OTT, you get scripts in advance, so these are few small things. Now OTT is so in and its reach is not just in the cities but it’s going rural also.

Anything else in pipeline?

Not yet but I am open to every medium, I want to keep doing good work and entertain my audience as much as I can.
