Just over 12 years ago, back on December 2, 20211, The Dirty Picture arrived. Already swimming in a pool of controversies and conversations, the film had a lot going on for itself but also a lot of scepticism attached to it. However, after the film's release, the film went on to receive immense critical appreciation and also went on to witness box-office success.
But only a select set of people believed in the project right from its inception, which included leading lady Vidya Balan, director Milan Luthria and producer Ekta Kapoor. Another name who became a part of the film based on a vision that it would break boundaries even though it was ahead of its time was actor Emraan Hashmi.
The actor, who played the role of Abraham, a successful and courageous film producer, had quite a graph to witness in the film and was his second collaboration with director Milan Luthria right away after the monstrous success of Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai.
Hashmi says, "The Dirty Picture holds a special place in my heart as it completed 12 years yesterday. The film's bold, ahead-of-its-time narrative, coupled with a realistic vision from the team, resonated with audiences. It's always a pleasure to delve into intense and diverse human experiences and play a complex character with dark emotions who deeply loves the movie's protagonist. I'm proud to have been part of a team that dared to push boundaries and connect with audiences on a profound level."
The Dirty Picture went on to cross Rs 100 crores at the box office.
