I Was Excited About Getting Pregnant, says Jawaani Jaaneman star Alaya F

Alaya F made the debut of the year with Jawaani Jaaneman co-starring Saif Ali Khan and Tabu. Her debut performance has impressed the audience and critics, and the newbie has already signed a three-film deal from Northern Lights Films.

She calls her debut film the perfect first film as she says: “Not one criticism for my performance; it was too good to be true! So then, the hunt began for one bad review, even among the YouTube trolls.”

Alaya played a pregnant daughter to Saif in the film and aced the role beautifully with the perfect dose of emotions. Speaking of turning pregnant in the film, she shares that the prosthetic belly was so heavy that it gave her a backache.

“It was a very real-looking, heavy prosthetic belly which gave me a backache. I was excited about getting pregnant till I realised the abs I’d taken months to acquire would be covered up” the 22-year-old told Mumbai Mirror.

When asked what was the best compliment she received for her performance, she replied: “That I looked cute with a pregnant belly.”

She also revealed how the first screening of the film was so special and memorable to her because it was attended by her mom Pooja Bedi, with her fiancé Maneck Contractor, her dad Farhan Furniturewala, and stepmom, Laila Khan with their 4-year-old son Zaan and her grandfather, Kabir Bedi, with his better half Parveen Dusanj.

Alaya said, "From a very young age, I’ve learned that as long as people are happy, you should be happy for them. Mine is a big, open, loving family; I respect everyone’s choices and enjoy a great equation with them. We complicate love and relationships too much, we don’t need to. That’s what my first film was about, too." 

After basking in the success of her first film, Alaya has bagged another project with Pooja Entertainment. However, due to the lockdown, she is currently at home and spending her time sketching and cleaning.

Alaya has an artistic hand and her drawings are proof of it. She often shares pictures of her art on her social media, which has highly impressed all her fans. The actress has also been cleaning out cupboards, learning to play the piano and cook to spend her time in quarantine.
