'I am playing a grey character for the first time'-Vaishali Nazareth

Vaishali Nazareth plays Anushka Ranawat, the Bahu of the Ranwat family in Ratna Sinha’s Babul Ka Chootey Na. The actress who was known for her role as Rani Kapoor in Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai talks to our  Telly Buzz team about her role in Babul Ka…

After playing the positive character of Rani in Har Ghar…, Vaishali is playing a negative character for the first time. So what compelled her to take up a role with such a different twist? Vaishali quips, “I am playing such a character for the first time. I wouldn’t say that it is an out and out negative character but yes, it does have some grey shades to it. The role is very challenging and different. Although people have seen me playing positive roles earlier, they are accepting me in this persona too and that is what is important. In a day I get to essay two different shades, so it is very interesting for me.”

Speaking about the current track of Babul Ka…, Vaishali says, “Right now Aastha and Shubh have got married. I was never in favour of their marriage. I don’t hate Aastha or anything but I am not fond of her either. I come from a rich background and Aastha is from middle class family, so I think that her getting married in our family is a clash of classes. Hence I keep plotting against her, so that she is blamed for everything.”

With Har Ghar…going off air, what has the actress planned for the future? Vaishali replies, “I know Har Ghar is ending, but I don’t intend taking up anything else in the near future. Babul… is my main priority and I want to concentrate on it. Down the line if I get a good positive role, I will take it up, but till then….”
