Hrithik Roshan, the heartthrob of Bollywood, has openly expressed his nervousness about the re-release of his debut film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. The film, which was a massive success and catapulted him to stardom, will be making its return on January 10, coinciding with Hrithik’s birthday. At the trailer launch of the Netflix docu-series The Roshans, the actor candidly admitted his apprehensions about how the film will be received today.
Speaking at the event, Hrithik reflected on the film’s nostalgic value. He revealed, “I am so afraid the film is releasing again. People will go tomorrow after 25 years and think, arre yaar pachis saal pehle hum kya soch rahe the, aisa kuch nahi hai,” meaning he was concerned that audiences might question what people saw in the film two and a half decades ago.
The actor was then shown a still from the iconic scene in which he plays the guitar, which led to him recalling his struggles with the instrument. Hrithik shared a behind-the-scenes memory: “When you give something like this to someone like me, you can expect me to go crazy. Cause I didn’t play the guitar, and now I had to look like I could play one.” He explained how he spent the entire night before shooting the scene practicing imaginary guitar movements to make the scene look authentic.
Though Hrithik thought he had nailed the guitar scene, he revealed an amusing detail. His son, who is fond of music, later pointed out that Hrithik had played the wrong notes. This moment showcased Hrithik’s perfectionist attitude towards his craft.
Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai not only launched Hrithik into the limelight but also featured memorable music composed by his uncle, Rajesh Roshan. The songs, like Na Tum Jano Na Hum and Ek Pal Ka Jeena, became chartbusters. The film became the second-highest-grossing film of 2000.
The re-release is part of a larger tribute to Hrithik and his family, with the upcoming Netflix docu-series The Roshans, set to drop on January 17. The series will explore the lives and careers of Hrithik, his father Rakesh Roshan, his uncle Rajesh, and his grandfather Roshan Lal.
