Hera Pheri 3: Paresh Rawal returns signing amount to the makers amid 15 cr fee issue

The entertainment world is buzzing with the news of Paresh Rawal's departure from the highly anticipated sequel, Hera Pheri 3. Recent sources indicate that the seasoned actor has reimbursed his signing fee to the film's producers, concluding his involvement in the highly awaited sequel.

Bollywood Hungama reports that Rawal has returned Rs 11 lakhs, the initial payment he received, along with 15 percent annual interest and a supplementary amount to offset his exit.

“Paresh Rawal has returned the signing amount of Rs 11 lakhs with 15% p.a. interest and also a little more money for stepping away from the series," a source informed the portal.

The insider additionally disclosed that Rawal's total compensation for the film was established at Rs 15 crores, featuring an atypical provision in his contract. He was slated to receive the remaining Rs 14.89 crores merely one month following the film's premiere. Given that the primary filming was anticipated to commence next year, and the release date was likely scheduled for late 2026 or possibly 2027, this deferral proved unfavorable to the actor.

“Paresh Rawal was paid Rs. 11 lakhs as a signing amount as per the term sheet. His total fees were locked at Rs. 15 crores. The term sheet mentioned that Paresh Rawal would receive the balance amount – Rs. 14.89 crores – only one month after the release of the film," the source added.

Considering the extended delay in payment, Rawal opted to withdraw, leading to a legal dispute between him and Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films, which has reportedly filed a lawsuit against him for Rs 25 crores.

Simultaneously, industry insiders have observed that only a promotional shoot for the film has been finalized thus far, allegedly conducted on the sets of Bhooth Bangla with that film's team.

Hera Pheri 3, the anticipated sequel to the 2000 hit Hera Pheri, with its second installment in 2006, was initially announced in 2023. Earlier this year, Priyadarshan was confirmed to direct the film.
