Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor Face Legal Action Under POCSO Act for ALTBalaji Web Series

Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, have been booked under the POCSO Act for inappropriate scenes in a web series on ALT Balaji. This case, involving the popular television producer, highlights issues around the portrayal of minors in objectionable content. The complaint relates to the series "Gandii Baat - Urban Stories From Rural India," where minor girls were allegedly shown in inappropriate scenes.

According to reports by ANI, a case has been registered at the MHB Police Station in Mumbai against Ekta Kapoor, her mother, and Balaji Telefilms Limited under sections 295A of the Indian Penal Code, the IT Act, and sections 13 and 15 of the POCSO Act. These charges relate to the use of minors for pornographic purposes. The specific incident is tied to Season 6 of "Gandii Baat." However, the episode is no longer available for streaming on the platform.

The series aired on ALT Balaji between February 2021 and April 2021. As of now, authorities are looking into the matter, but no official statement has been released by Ekta Kapoor or Balaji Telefilms. ALTBalaji, which Ekta launched in 2017, is an on-demand video service. The adult drama "Gandii Baat" has had seven seasons, directed by Sachin Mohite.

Ekta Kapoor became famous through her successful TV shows such as "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi," "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki," "Kasautii Zindagi Kay," "Naagin," and "Kundali Bhagya." Along with television, she has produced several films.
