Director Raaj Shaandilyaa Apologizes to Maddock Films for Unapproved Use in 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video'

Director Raaj Shaandilyaa and the producers of Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video have publicly apologized to Maddock Films for using characters and dialogues from the Stree franchise without permission. The film's producers include Super Cassettes Ind. Pvt. Ltd., Balaji Motion Pictures, and Wakaoo Films. The apology follows backlash on social media regarding this unauthorized usage.

Raaj Shaandilyaa acknowledged the infringement in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter). He expressed regret over the mistake and admitted that elements from Stree were utilized without authorization. Shaandilyaa offered a “sincere and unconditional apology” to Maddock Films, taking responsibility for the oversight. He stated, “I, Raaj Shaandilyaa, the director of the film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, on behalf of myself and on behalf of Super Cassettes Ind. Pvt. Ltd., Balaji Motion Pictures, and Wakaoo Films, extend our sincere and unconditional apology for the unauthorized use of character and dialogue from Maddock Films’ franchise Stree in our film. The director and producers confirmed that they would eliminate all infringing content from the film by October 15, 2024. They emphasized their intention to avoid any similar incidents in the future. They clarified that Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has no connection with Maddock Films or the Stree series, stating, “We are taking immediate steps to rectify the issue and are in the process of removing all infringing content from our film wherein we have used character and dialogue from Maddock Films Stree. It will be our endeavor to complete this process by Tuesday, 15th October 2024, to the full satisfaction of Maddock Films. We also commit to ensuring that no such unauthorized usage will occur in the future. We further confirm that our film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is in no way associated with Maddock Films, their Stree and Stree 2 franchises, or any of the characters therein. Additionally, we make no claim to any intellectual property rights in Stree, Stree 2, or any related characters.”

Despite the apology, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video continues to receive criticism for its weak writing and scattered plot. The film's storyline lacks coherence, and although Raaj Shaandilyaa put effort into the dialogues, the writing fails to keep the audience engaged. Rajkummar's performance is affected by the underwhelming script, making it difficult for him to carry the film. Triptii's role also leaves much to be desired, as her presence on screen is not as strong as expected. While some moments work, the overall execution fails to leave a lasting impression on viewers.
