Shilpa Shinde and Romit Raj were once on the brink of marriage, but their engagement was quickly called off before they could proceed with the marriage. Shilpa, who was recently eliminated from the reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, previously gained widespread attention as the winner of Bigg Boss 11. Meanwhile, Romit, now known for his role as Rohit Poddar on Star Plus's popular series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, took over the role from Shivam Khajuria.

The romance between Shilpa Shinde and Romit Raj began in 2007 on the sets of their show Maayka. According to reports, by 2009 the couple was engaged, with wedding preparations already underway. However, Shinde had a change of heart, and the engagement was swiftly called off.

In an interview with ETimes TV, Shilpa Shinde discussed her decision to end the engagement. She explained that she felt too young to marry at the time and that, despite pressure from her parents and relatives to proceed with the wedding, she was firm in her decision. Shinde also mentioned during her stint on Bigg Boss 11 that Romit's family had become overly demanding. This factor may have contributed to her decision to call off the engagement.

Shinde further shared with ETimes TV that she no longer believes in the institution of marriage, and if she ever falls in love again, she prefers to keep the relationship unnamed.

Elsewhere, in an interview with ETimes TV, Romit also addressed why he hasn’t spoken about his breakup with Shilpa over the past eight years. He stated that he prefers to keep the details private, as both families are aware of the reasons behind the split. He expressed respect for Shinde, acknowledging her as a wonderful person and wishing her well.

Raj reflected on their past relationship, noting that despite their strong friendship, they realized they were not suited for marriage and decided to part ways amicably. In the same interview, he also recalled his name coming up during a conflict between Shinde and Vikas Gupta on Bigg Boss 11.

While Shilpa Shinde remains single, Romit Raj has since married Tina Kakkar. Recently, Shilpa’s participation in Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 drew considerable attention, culminating in her eviction in the episode that aired last night. Her journey through reality TV has cemented her status as a prominent figure in the industry, though it has not been without its share of controversies.
