Deepali Pansare: Summer vacations feel like a distant memory

Long holidays planned during school summer vacations are a memory that actress Deepali Pansare will always cherish. However, she says that, as adults, taking long holidays is not always possible.

“As much as adults love taking long summer breaks, their responsibilities and work commitments usually don’t allow them to do this. I feel taking long breaks over the summer is just a memory for me now,” she says.

She adds, “We keep asking about long leaves but it usually doesn’t get approved! (laughs). Also, nowadays screenplays come late and everything is planned at the last moment. So, we never get clarity in advance about when we would be free. Only emergency, pregnancy and marriage leaves are approved instantly.”

However, she says that one must take off for at least two to three days, every now and then. “Of course, being away, even if it is just for 2-3 days, from the hustling city is a breather for people. Everyone should take time out for travelling and exploring new places,” she says.

Talking about her breaks, she says, “Usually, we get holidays suddenly so my travel plans are always spontaneous. I just pack my bags and leave!”

However, be it long holidays or two to three day-breaks, the phone should be kept away, she says, “Obviously it should be a strict break from work. If you are still accessible on the phone, you tend to spend your time attending calls and work queries rather than spending it with your family.”
