Because laughter is the best medicine...

Comedy is the most challenging genre to attempt on television as it demands an ongoing dose of... crisp, sarcastic, strong, to-the-point, novel yet relatable humour being served day after day, week after week, season after season.
While, many shows succeeded in getting the viewers hooked to their show, there are few characters, who became bigger than their shows, raising the bar of comedy on Indian TV shows with their hilarious performance and their effortless timing.
Let's revive some good old memories and bring a smile on your face. Read on!
Mussadi Lal from Office Office
Pankaj Kapoor played the role of Mussadi Lal, an honest common man who wanted to fight against corruption. We all remember his witty and sarcastic dialogues that made us laugh so damn hard.
Praful and Hansa Parekh from Khichdi
The adorable couple, Praful and Hansa Parekh were one of the most loved and also the dumbest couples on TV. Praful's character was played by Rajeev Mehta and Hansa was played by Supriya Pathak. Praful was like Jon Snow, he knew nothing. And Hansa, she was probably just like Praful. Therefore, they were perfect for each other (or not). Praful's preposterous sense and Hansa's silly queries always left the viewers in splits.
Nani from Shararat
Played by Farida Jalal, the character of Nani aka Sushma had solutions to all the problems faced by her granddaughter Jia. Nani was a Super cool magician and had effective and magical solutions to every problem. But the process of solving Jia's problems often led to hilarious laugh riots.
Daya from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma
The character of Daya Gada is played by Disha Vakani. She is the wife of Jethalal Gada and the couple's onscreen chemistry is appreciated by all. Daya's accent and dialogues like "Hey Maa, Mata Ji" leaves the viewers rolling on the floor. Her unique Garba style has made her one of the most hilarious characters on TV.
Gutthi from Comedy Nights with Kapil
The character Gutthi, played by Sunil Grover went on to become phenomenal on the show. His, or we should rather say 'her' songs and those killer dance moves took the show to altogether new levels. Her antics with Kapil's Dadi played by Ali Asgar gave the viewers, as well as the celebs on the show a hearty laugh to remember.
Keshav Kulkarni or Keku from Shrimaan Shrimati
Keshav Kulkarni or Keku played by Jatin Kanakia was the central character of the show Shrimaan Shrimati. He had a crush on the next door neighbour Prema Shalini and the contrast in his behaviour while interacting with his wife Koki and Prema made the viewers laugh their guts out. His witty remarks made him one of the most memorable comic characters on TV.
Rosech from Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai
Rosech, played by Rajesh Kumar was well known for his hilarious poems which made no sense. He was an immature mama's boy, who played weird and funny roles in various plays. The childish way in which he called out to his 'momma' and his nonsensical poems were the USP's of the show.
Dilruba from Shrimaan Shrimati
The character, Dilruba was played by Rakesh Bedi and he was the house husband of Archana Puran Singh on the show. The character had a female touch to it and his patent hand movement tickled the viewers' funny bone in a very subtle way. He was also called as Dilbura by Chintu on the show which made him very famous.
Radha and Devaki from Tu Tu Main Main
Radha aka Supriya Pilgaonkar and Devaki aka Reema Lagoo had some great onscreen chemistry on the show. The eccentric saas-bahu relationship and the rib-tickling arguments between the duo made the show one of the most renowned comedy shows on TV.
Jaspal Bhatti from Flop Show
This is one show that doesn't live up to its name. Why? Because even though the show's name is 'Flop Show' it was a big hit in spite of having just 10 episodes. The show focused on the socio-cultural issues faced by the common man. Jaspal Bhatti wrote, directed and also acted in the show. His perfect humour timing, brilliant dialogues and unique style made the viewers laugh till they had tears in their eyes.
