Bhagyashree Expresses Joy Over Maine Pyar Kiya Re-Release: 'Some Classics Are Best Left Untouched'

Bhagyashree is filled with excitement as her debut film, Maine Pyar Kiya, is set to re-release on its 35th anniversary. The 1989 film, directed by Sooraj Barjatya, was a milestone in both her and Salman Khan's careers. While it was Salman’s second film, it turned him into a household name, largely due to the heartwarming chemistry between him and Bhagyashree. Maine Pyar Kiya set new standards in romance, making it a fan favorite even after all these years.

The film also marked the first collaboration between Salman Khan and legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam. Songs like "Kabootar Ja Ja Ja" and the romantic ballads "Mere Sawaalon Ka," "Dil Deewana," and "Aate Jaate Hanste Gaate" have aged beautifully. The dialogue "Dosti ka ek usool hai madam, no sorry, no thank you" is still popular on social media. When Rajshri Productions announced the re-release, fans were overjoyed. Gen-Z is eager to experience the film on the big screen for the first time, while millennials are ready to relive their nostalgia.

Speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, Bhagyashree expressed her excitement about how the film might resonate with today’s generation. “It’s incredible to think that a whole new generation will experience the magic of Maine Pyar Kiya onscreen. It’s a timeless love story, and I’m eager to see how Gen-Z connects with the pure, simple romance we portrayed,” she said.

When asked if she ever imagined the film would become such a hit, Bhagyashree humbly replied, “Honestly, no. We just felt we were telling a beautiful story. The lasting impact the film has had is something I cherish deeply.”

Reflecting on her journey post-release, Bhagyashree said, “Maine Pyar Kiya changed my life in every sense. It made me a household name and opened doors I never imagined.” However, she firmly believes that classics like Maine Pyar Kiya should not be remade. “Some stories are timeless, and the magic of the original should remain untouched,” she added.
