Adrija who is currently seen as Rupali Ganguly’s onscreen daughter, Raahi (Aadhya), in Anupamaa recently made headlines after falling victim to a scam, losing ?1.48 crore in a fraudulent deal involving an energy drink brand. The scam, orchestrated by Sky 63 Energy Drinks in Indore, duped multiple actors, including Kushal Tandon, Ankita Lokhande, and Karan Kundrra. The police are currently investigating five suspects linked to the fraud.
Speaking about the incident, Adrija shared, "It was a social media campaign, and we had a contract stating that payments would be made within 35 days. However, months passed, and we still hadn't received our dues. It’s not just me—around 25 actors have been scammed, many of whom are well-known. I am relatively new, and the amount involved is huge. An FIR has been filed, and we are waiting for justice."
The scam came to light when Roshan Bhinder, owner of Ayman Entertainment, filed a police complaint. In July 2024, two individuals, Tanish Chhajed and Manu Shrivastava, approached Bhinder’s company to help promote their energy drink. Trusting their claims, Bhinder facilitated endorsements from 25 TV actors and even organized a high-profile launch event in Mumbai. However, the promised payments never arrived.
The fraudsters initially claimed to have transferred ?10 lakh as an advance, but Bhinder never received the funds. Despite ongoing promotions, payments were repeatedly delayed. They issued multiple checks, all of which bounced. They even claimed to have wired ?22.5 lakh from Dubai, but the money never materialized.
The situation worsened on October 18, 2024, when two more checks, totaling ?80 lakh, bounced. Bhinder had already paid ?35 lakh out of her own pocket to some celebrities, leaving her in financial distress.
Following investigations, the Mumbai Police have arrested Tanish Chhajed, Manu Shrivastava, and their associates for fraud. The case continues to unfold as authorities work to recover the lost funds.
