Andhra-Telangana Floods: Prabhas, Pawan Kalyan, Allu Arjun & others aid the affected with donations

The recent torrential rains in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have wreaked havoc, causing widespread flooding and claiming 33 lives—16 in Telangana and 17 in Andhra Pradesh. The relentless downpour has led to the destruction of homes, inundation of farmlands, and severe disruption of daily life, leaving thousands in dire need of help. Amid this crisis, the leading stars of the Telugu film industry have come forward with significant financial contributions, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to their fans and the people of their states.

One of the first to announce his support was actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan. In a remarkable gesture, he pledged a total of Rs 6 crores for flood relief in both states. His donation includes Rs 1 crore each to the Chief Minister’s Relief Funds of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Additionally, as a Panchayat Minister, Pawan Kalyan announced that he would personally donate Rs 1 lakh each to 400 severely impacted Panchayats in Andhra Pradesh, amounting to Rs 4 crores. His efforts reflect not only his political responsibility but also his deep concern for the welfare of his fellow citizens.

Following Pawan Kalyan's lead, other prominent actors also stepped up. Allu Arjun, known for his role in Pushpa, expressed his sorrow over the situation on his official X handle stating, “I’m saddened by the loss and suffering caused by the devastating rains in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.” He announced a donation of Rs 50 lakh to each state’s CM Relief Fund, totaling Rs 1 crore. His message of solidarity was a source of encouragement for many.

Mahesh Babu also took to his social media and wrote, "In light of the floods impacting both the Telugu states, I am pledging a donation of 50 lakhs each to the CM Relief Fund for both AP and Telangana. Let’s collectively support the measures being undertaken by the respective governments to provide immediate aid and facilitate the recovery process for the flood-affected regions. I urge everyone to contribute to this cause. May we rise above this crisis and emerge stronger."

Similarly Prabhas donated Rs 1 crore each to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, making a total contribution of Rs 2 crores. Other actors, including, Chiranjeevi, Jr NTR, and Nandamuri Balakrishna, also made generous donations of Rs 50 lakh each to the relief efforts, underscoring the collective effort of the film fraternity to aid in the recovery process.

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued alerts for several districts in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, warning of continued heavy rainfall. As the situation unfolds, the support from these South Indian actors highlights their consistent dedication to philanthropy, especially in times of crisis.
