Still on my mind

'Still On My Mind' starring Shama Sikander and Alexx O'Nell has released. This is the first music video featuring a song that he have composed and recorded.

Speaking about the same, Alexx talked about the song, reason for it being a lockdown release and much more..

1. What was the inspiration for the song and music video?

At its core, Still On My Mind asks: “how do you live without me now?” As all over the world friends, families, and lovers are forced to stay at a distance from one another it is a question many people are struggling with right now. And while it is indeed a ‘love song for the lockdown’, Still On My Mind was written, as is all my music, from my personal experiences. It is about the good and bad times that all relationships endure: the joy, the pain, the desires, and the regrets. It is about telling one another “I cant live without you”… and then realising that you somehow go on living, even in each other’s absence. It is about the emotions that linger on long after the moment has passed, the emotions that, even still this day, are ‘still on my mind’. Featuring acclaimed actress Shama Sikander and I, the Still On My Mind Music Video seeks to convey those same emotions. Told through a series of flashbacks it is about two lovers whose story is drawing to a close: and while one is seeking closure, the other is clinging to the past.

2. Why a lockdown release?

Music is something that is very close to my heart, and it’s something that I have been wanting to do for a very very very long time. Fortunately, I entered into the lockdown with the music video pretty much complete, and the audio recordings finished, with the final mixing and mastering stages left to go.

I was fortunate enough to find artists in the UK with access to their studios, most notably Ben Hillier the mixing specialist, who's done a lot of work with Depeche Mode and Blur among other incredibly successful recording artists. Ben’s work combined with the contributions of Bharat Goel and Debarpito Saha right here in Mumbai, India, transformed my little melody into something truly beautiful.

There is no perfect time to release anything, and I truly believe that Still On My Mind’s central question “how do you live without me now?” is more relevant now than every before.

3. How has your journey been like since Nach Baliye till now?

It has been an incredible adventure from Nach Baliye to Still On My Mind.

As you know I’ve starred in over 30 feature films and series, in 6 different languages. And I've had the incredible good fortune of working with the absolute best in the Indian film industry including directors like Santosh Sivan, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and Srijit Mukherji.

And pretty much every Indian actor I could hope to collaborate with including Amitabh Bacchan, Vinay Pathak, Rajkumar Rao, Manoj Bajpai, Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Prabhu Deva, Mammootty, Vidya Balan, Genelia DeSouza, Amy Jackson, Randeep Hooda, Adil Hussain, Richa Chaddha, and the list goes on and on.

And my journey as an actor is certainly not over! I’m looking forward to completing, and hopefully releasing within this lockdown, a major OTT series that I'm incredibly proud of. I can't say too much about it now but it should be announced soon.

Then, as soon as theaters re-open I'm extremely excited about the release of 4 films including one Bangla/English project entitled Golondaaj with the West Bengal superstar Dev Adhikari, and of course RoohiAfza a Horror Comedy that features myself along with Rajkumar Rao, Janvhi Kapoor, and Varun Sharma.

While my music career has just begun with Still On My Mind, I can only hope that India will be as supportive of my music as she has been of my acting - and so far, it looks promising!
