Akshay Kumar has spoken out strongly against a fake film trailer that recently went viral. The video, created using artificial intelligence, showed him playing the revered sage Maharishi Valmiki. Sharing a detailed note on his social media on 23 September, the actor made it clear the clip was completely fabricated.
“I have recently come across some AI-generated videos of a film trailer showing me in the role of Maharishi Valmiki. I want to clarify that all such videos are fake and created using AI,” he wrote.
What angered him more was how quickly the false clip was picked up as fact. “What’s worse, some news channels decide to pick these up as news without even verifying if these are real or morphed,” he added.
Concern Over AI-Driven Misinformation

Akshay also highlighted a larger issue that goes beyond this one incident. He warned how artificial intelligence can be misused to spread misinformation at alarming speed. “In today’s time, when misleading content is being produced at great speed through manipulative AI, I sincerely request media houses to verify and report only after authenticating the information,” he urged.
The actor’s post reflects a growing concern in the film industry and beyond, where deepfake videos and AI-generated content can damage reputations and mislead audiences within minutes.
Busy Times on the Work Front
While dealing with the AI controversy, Akshay is also celebrating the success of his latest release, Jolly LLB 3. The courtroom comedy, which hit theatres on 19 September, has already crossed Rs 50 crore in just three days despite the mixed reviews from audiences as well as critics. Reprising his role as lawyer Jolly Mishra, Akshay stars alongside Arshad Warsi, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao.
Up next, Akshay has a packed line-up of films, including Bhooth Bangla, Welcome to the Jungle, Hera Pheri 3, and Haiwaan. Akshay’s strong response serves as a reminder to both audiences and media outlets to stay alert.
