Few have managed to make a mark playing the once-tabooed character of transgender in a way that's not stereotypical but still portraying their actual plight and reality. There have been several attempts but few have been good and one of them was producer-actor Sandiip Sikcand's portrayal of Nirmala Pandit in the film, Murder 2.

The character was applauded by critics and loved by the audience too. Now, Sikcand is all set to produce a Tollywood series about which posted on his social media over a month ago.

Now opening up on producing the show in an interview with Times of India, Sikcand said, "Transgenders and the LGBTQIA community, I feel, have most of the time been portrayed in a very poor light in our films and shows. We have a mainstream hindi GEC show that deals with transgenders, which is excellent, but it's just one show. The world is rapidly changing and we are open to a lot more ideas today than we were a few years ago and my effort has always been to tell different stories, which are a reflection of our society.”

He added,  “Transgenders, as per me, are a very important part of our society and I have tremendous respect for them. They truly live life on their own terms and that's very inspirational. Hence, a show on them to bring forth their story, struggle, emotions and feelings felt right.”
