Aamir Khan is embroiled in controversy following the circulation of a viral video featuring him in a political ad campaign. Mumbai Police have taken swift action by registering an FIR against an unidentified individual responsible for creating and disseminating the deepfake video.
According to reports from NewsX, Aamir Khan's office lodged the FIR at Khar Police Station, invoking charges under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology Act. The 31-second video features Aamir Khan endorsing a political party, with the Congress party symbol displayed prominently at the end.
Aamir Khan's official spokesperson has issued a strong statement, categorically denying any involvement with the political advertisement. The statement underscores Khan's non-political stance over his illustrious 35-year career, underscoring his dedication to public awareness campaigns conducted by the Election Commission. The statement further said, “He has dedicated his efforts to raising public awareness through Election Commission public awareness campaigns for many past elections.”
