It's CSK's chance to avenge the defeat to LSG in Lucknow. CSK want to reinforce their fortress, LSG want to repeat what they did at home. Both teams are locked at eight points in seven games. A win will take one of them clear of the bottom six tonight. For CSK, it is the start of three straight home games, which they will want to make the most of. Welcome to our live coverage. Toss in half an hour.

Home is where the Wifi connects automatically, and for CSK home is generally where two points connect automatically. With the yellow army backing them to the tilt and the sluggish wickets being their best friends, Chennai Super Kings exemplify what ‘home advantage’ is for this tournament. They are unbeaten at home this season, but have been shaky on the road with three losses, the latest of which was against LSG in Lucknow.

Lucknow have had a similar storyline to CSK - lions at home and lambs away. They have won three out of their four home games but have been poor on the road, suffering a drubbing at the Eden Gardens against KKR last time around. KL Rahul and co. are fresh off a solid win against CSK, where the skipper and QDK both found some form again, but playing Chennai at Chennai could be a different ball game altogether.

What are the conditions like? The pitch is pretty central. there is no bigger or smaller side. Not by much anyway. Ian Bishop and Matthew Hayden expect a "dogfight". The pitch looks tacky to them. They expect a low-scoring game. And dew is going to play a part. So win your toss, and make all the difference with the ball before the dew comes in. Toss in 20 minutes.

CSK players to watch out for: Having scored three 50-plus scores as an opener so far, it would once again be a tricky call for the CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad to stick to the latest shuffle or promote himself back to the top.

LSG player to watch out for: LSG will hope for the return of young pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who had to sit out of two games after suffering a lower abdominal strain.

Thnk u for tagging me, may the best team win today

Pitch Report | Ian Bishop and Matthew Hayden: Two teams within whispering distance of each other, so that makes this game so very important. It was very hot in the afternoon, but it is cooling down a bit now. We are very central on this lovely playing surface. To the right, it is about 66m and only one meter bigger on the left side. Down the ground it is 78m. This feels like a wicket of two halves. The half where we are standing have some specklings of grass, but the far end has a nice even covering of grass. It is not going to be a 200 sort of wicket, it is going to be a real dogfight. There is going to be some dew today, and it will come early. By 8pm, you can see a considerable amount of moisture on the outfield. But the wicket itself, you got to be in the hunt, you got to be in the fight throughout the game. The KKR game, they got about 137 which was chased down easily. This is going to be a surface like that. It is not going to be easy in the middle phase where you will see a lot of spin here, and that’s where you need to be comfortable batting on this surface. The trick for pacers will be to take pace off, bowl a lot of off cutters and big looping slower ones. This is a critical game, can’t wait for it to get started.

Among many other things, this has been the season of MS Dhoni. The cheers at his sightings, which have become sporadic since international retirement, have been louder than ever. And he has batted quicker than ever even if in a super-specialised role. Here, Deivarayan Muthu on Dhoni's new role.

Dhoni has excelled in this super-specialised role of managing the last two-three overs of a T20 innings, clattering 15 boundaries in 34 balls, which means he is finding the rope or clearing it roughly every two deliveries.
