The film is a feast of visual imagery which explores the depths of emotion, tapping on stark realism, traveling through love, hypocrisy, lies…so true to life but breathing a life of its own.

It's a film focusing on the lives of three friends, one runs an internet caf, one into sales at a pharmaceutical company and the third a car mechanic, all living in a backward low class "mohalla". Besides being close friends, what strings them together is an unsettled childhood which also leads to a lack of respect for the opposite sex. There is a hidden, pent up physical frustration, and the story brings out the peak of emotions in the most dramatic manner while portraying the harsh realities of the world. The story also touches February riots on Mall Road and the critical issue of the controversial cartoons published in a Danish Newspaper.

Maira

The pivotal character in the story is a teacher in her mid-thirties. She was born in the same mohalla of Lahore as the three central characters. With her father passing away when she was very young, she has been brought up singlehandedly by her mother. The journey of misery and emotional pain started from her childhood. She is a girl dying to get out of her house, wishing all her life for a rich, lavish life. She listens to old songs, watches Indian art films, and is influenced a lot by the latest fashion trends. She pretends to live a lavish life in front of people, giving others an impression that she is very rich and confident, whereas deep inside she is very insecure.

All three guys have their eyes on the girl. They all want her for their own…not to own…but for their own fun and frolic. On the other hand the girl wants to use each for fulfilling her own desires. The dualities of life and living in a material world are juxtaposed here in the story. The masks we all wear are subtly exposed.

It is at this juncture that there is a twist to the tale! Enter rich guy: also an ex-mohallaydar whose family (after selling their farming land to DHA) has moved to Defense; a typical naudaultiya (nouveau riche) always dressed in bright flashy clothes. This rich boy has adopted all the social vices; he is addicted to drugs and interacts with one of the three friends (who is a drug dealer). The three guys invite him to a party where he meets and starts to like the girl. The friends carefully consider a business proposition of setting him up with the girl to get something lucrative out of it for themselves. However, things don't go as planned and a twist leaves all these characters at a distance from their aspirations.

Parallel to this a major issue unravels as a Danish Newspaper publishes some controversial cartoons. Some religious parties plan a protest on the Mall Road in Lahore. The entire mohalla and the main people of the community plan to protest against the whole issue. Our three hot-blooded young guys also decide to join in. They push and prod the rich guy to join in and on their way, fully clothed and armed to suit the occasion, something happens at an ATM which leaves another twist in this tale.

The film goes on with both twists creating complex entanglements, exposing a deep set moral corruption within our social fabric. Friends betray friends, lives are lost, the society looks the other way, life goes on as though nothing ever happened. The story ends with many questions …how do you try to go on with life or what do you deal with every day in the world of heartless people! Is it realities that shape us or do we shape our own realities?
