High on Style

By M. Hasan

Surrounded by cloudy mountaintops, lush green hillsides and romantic drizzling, a three-day event at PC Bhurban was held last week by a phone company to launch its latest line of sleek and glamorous cellphones.

To keep the glam factor alive and kicking, a gala night and musical evening was hosted at the amphitheatre in which the company's brand ambassadors, singers Atif Aslam and Abrar-ul-Haq, pumped up the volume and enthralled the audience with their spirited performance. But the highlight of the evening was the razzmatazz fashion show featuring the exquisite ensembles of designers Sara Salman (women's wear) and Shakir (menswear), presenting specially created black and silver lines for both the sexes.

Things kicked off to a mesmerising start with the super-slim Natasha Hussain aka Nattie alighting down a staircase under a follow spotlight, with a heavy western beat providing the perfect musical support to this spectacle. She was followed by the brigade of fashionistas, namely Maha, Rubya Chaudary, Neha, Nooray, Rachel, Sara Gillani, Arisha, Laila, Mahrosh, Zille and Sophia Khan in fine fettle with their Sara Salman creations. The line included modern trendy outfits for the contemporary woman, comprising casuals, saris and also heavy formals.

Shakir of the label Black dressed up the boys in classic suits and formal pants and shirts with the stress on cut, fitting and fall, and superlative stitching. For this once, the menswear was not overshadowed by the women's wear. While old pros Rizwan Hyder, Sohail Sameer and Fahad Gillani were sleek and dashing, sauntering around as debonair dons, new kids on the block — Vicky, Umair and Abid — also managed to make quite an impression in what was their debut show.

The styling was by Shahnaz A. and her team and the launch show of LG's new high end mobile 'Shine' was choreographed by Rezz Aly Shah to fabulous music.
