JaBir FF - The Forced Alliance - Part 3, Page 2

Posted: 4 years ago

Hi everyone! Since my other JaBir short story is coming to an end (probably just one more part, we'll see how long of an update it turns out to be!) I decided to write another one! This idea came to me spontaneously and I would love to explore it further with everyone here on the forum!

Note: This story has nothing to do with the show itself except for the characters Pooja and Kabir. Their characterizations are also completely different from the show and so is the plot! Have a read and do let me know what you think and whether I should continue this! 😉

JaBir FF - The Forced Alliance

Part 1

Someone was pounding her on the head with a hammer. It was the only explanation for the splitting headache she was currently experiencing. Either that, or she had had one too many vodka shots at the bar tonight. But hey, a little alcohol didn't hurt anyone on such a happy occasion.

She wandered drunkenly over to her Mercedes, gripping a bottle of alcohol in one hand and her cell phone in the other. A strap of her crop top slipped down her shoulder in her clumsy attempt at unlocking her vehicle. But wait, where were her keys? She scratched her head, giving the ground around her a full 360 degrees examination. But the keys were no where to be found. "Oh great. Just perfect!" She yelled, loud enough to wake the sleeping neighborhood. Giving a defeated huff, she leaned against her car, slipping down to the ground. She placed the bottle to one side of her and crossed her legs, without realizing that the mini skirt that she had on was revealing a lot more than she intended.

Looks like even my car keys are busy partying on this wonderful day! She chuckled to herself, allowing her another swig of alcohol. She pulled the bottle back, examining it with wonder. "You," she slurred. "Are wonderful. If you were a person, I'd marry you." she mumbled. "Whatever would I do without you?" She barely realized what she was saying but somehow, in her drunken state, speaking to a glass bottle seemed to be a perfectly reasonable thing to do. "August 5th 2019. What a wonderful day. Why aren't more people celebrating?" She grumbled, suddenly realizing that the streets around her were dead silent. "HELLO INHABITANTS OF EARTH!" She screamed, raising her bottle to the air. "COME OUTSIDE! PARTY WITH ME! STOP SLEEPING YOU LAZY OAFS!" She yelled. But the only creatures to respond were the crickets.

She sighed, and turned to her alcohol companion. "Guess it's just you and me old pal". She was interrupted from her reverie by the loud chime of her cell phone. Irritated, she whisked it off the floor and answered. "Whatdoyouwant?"  She asked in a jumbled slur. Her sister's concerned voice emerged from the other end. "Pooja, where the hell are you?! It's nearly 2 A.M! Please come home!" Pooja grinned, thinking of her sister's worried expression. Rani was 3 years older than Pooja but liked to consider herself as Pooja's mother. "Rani, I'm celebrating! You should've been here with me!" she chuckled. "I would've gotten you so drunk you wouldn't remember your name!"

She heard her sisters exasperated sigh from the other end of the line. "Pooja, stop it. You need to come home. Please."

"Is that man dead yet?" Asked Pooja, barely waiting for her sister to finish. Rani was silent for a moment before responding with an annoyed, "'That man' happens to be your father and my step-father Pooja. Have some decency." Pooja shrugged. "Doesn't answer my question. I'm not coming home till that man is officially out of our lives. Hopefully by the end of the night." Saying so, she cut the call and threw her phone back down to the ground.

Now she was back to square one. She had no money. No car keys. And worst of all, her liquor was running out. Groaning, she used the car for support and lifted herself up. "Need to get out of here," she mumbled, gazing towards the road for any sign of a pedestrian. The entire street seemed to be dead. And for a minute, she couldn't help wondering if maybe she was actually the only person on this road. The hairs on her arm raised and the seriousness of the situation hit her like a truck. 2 A.M. Alone on the road. Wearing a mini skirt and crop top. And utterly drunk. She bent down, picking up her alcohol bottle. "At least I have you to defend me if someone tries something on me." she muttered, placing a soft kiss on the bottle.

Before she had time to think (to the best of her capacity) a plan of action, she spotted a car approaching her. She ran onto the street, waving her arms frantically. "HEY! STOP STOP STOP!"

Noticing the frantic girl, the driver of the vehicle pounded on the brakes and the car skidded to a stop not 2 steps away from the girl. The driver stepped out. It was a man. Likely 5'11 in height and as far as Pooja's drunkenness could identify, was VERY handsome. His black hair was brushed messily back allowing only a few strands to lay across his forehead. He wore a white shirt underneath a black leather jacket and faded blue jeans. "What the hell is WRONG with you?!" He yelled, stepping in front of her. "Are you out of your MIND? I was TWO seconds away from running you under my car!"

Pooja scratched her head, unfazed. "Look mister whatever-your-name-is. I need a ride. And you have a car. So lets cut the talk and start the drive." She pushed him aside and walked towards the passenger seat. The man looked at her, appalled. The girl reeked of alcohol and was clearly bold when drunk. "Excuse me?!" He finally asked. She shrugged, motioning towards the car. "Open the door. Please." She added, looking at his expression of wonder.

The man considered the predicament for a moment. He had a drunk girl in front of him, wearing clothes shorter than he thought physically possible, and clearly had no wallet. The right thing to do would be to give her a ride to wherever she was headed. Does she even know where she wants to go? He wondered. Deciding that the appropriate action to take at the moment was to help the girl out, he opened the passenger side and allowed her to stumble inside. He walked to the driver's side and got in. He turned to her, but she seemed to be already in a deep slumber. His eyes narrowed. What the f***? He shook her arm, trying to wake her. "Hey! Get up!"

"Hrrmmm" She muttered, slapping his arm away. "Where do you need to go?!" He asked, irritated. "Wherever," she muttered. His mouth fell open. What the hell did 'wherever' mean?! This was certainly not how he expected his night to be going. "Wake the HELL up, woman before I shove you out of this car!" He threatened. Her eyes quickly fluttered open. "What's your problem?" She groaned in frustration. "Just take me to a hotel or something."

His eyes widened in shock. "Um. Whoever you are...I'm not looking for an escort. Or a call girl. Or whatever. If you could get out of my car now," he began. Her head snapped towards him and after a moment of silence, she burst out laughing. "Look, Imnot," she slurred. "I'm not any of those things. I'm just drunk. I need a place to stay the night. So please. A hotel." He turned and looked straight ahead, feeling embarrassed himself. "Fine," he said. He changed gears and began to drive.

The drive was quiet. His eyes flickered between the road and the sleeping girl beside him. Yes, this was certainly now how he had envisioned his night. He had left several urgent meetings to return from Surat to Mumbai after realizing that his boss was breathing his last. And now he had this girl to deal with. I'll just drop her at the hotel and be off on my way. He thought, pressing his foot on the gas just a little harder. What a night this was turning out to be.

End

Let me know what you guys think of the story! I know this isn't characteristic of Pooja, but the reasons behind her behavior will be revealed in later parts of the story!

Love you all!

Part 2

It looked less like a hotel and more like a shabby motel. But after scouring the roads for over half an hour, this was the only place Kabir had found. He eyed the girl in the passenger seat next to him. "She's barely dressed," he grumbled, noting the spaghetti strapped-crop top that refused to stay in place and the scandalous mini-skirt that did little to hide her legs. He knew it wasn't the best place for her to stay the night, but did he have another choice? He couldn't exactly take her with him. He was going to meet his boss, for god's sake. He couldn't have a half-drunken, barely-dressed girl by his side! It was this thought that further encouraged him to take the left turn into the motel's paved and snaking driveway.

Finding a parking spot as close to the entrance as possible, Kabir parked and turned towards his companion. She was asleep. In fact, she was so asleep that she was snoring. Irritated, he patted her on the shoulder with urgency. "Hey, wake up. We're here. Now you can get out of my car." At the sound of his voice, a deep frown lined her forehead and her lips pursed. "Hrmm" she muttered, as she swatted his arm away still asleep. He groaned, rubbing his tired eyes with his hand. God help me, he thought. Why did everything in his life have to be so difficult? "GET UP!" He said, a little louder. There was no response. "She barely classifies as a girl," he muttered under his breath. "She's sleeping like a freaking ogre." Unable to tolerate this girl any longer, he pushed his door open and opened the trunk where he grabbed a bottle of ice cold water. "You asked for it," he said before unlocking her side of the car and dumping half the bottle onto her head.

That certainly did the trick. She awoke with a scream, rubbing her eyes and pulling her hair back. "What the hell was that?!" She cried. Her words still sounded slurred. How much did she drink tonight? He wondered. He motioned towards the motel. "We're here. You can get out of my car now." She looked at the building and then back at him. "Is that generally how you wake people up?" She dropped, coldly. Kabir smirked. "Not usually no. But prissy drunk girls who hijack my car - most certainly." Saying so, he moved aside, giving her room to exit. She stumbled but was sober enough to make her way to the door. "If it was such an issue why'd you let me into your car in the first place, jerk?" she snapped. He raised his eyebrows. Clearly someone was angry when drunk. "Did you miss a key word in what I just said, princess?" He asked. "Hijack. You literally forced yourself into my car. Didn't leave me with much of a choice."

She gave him a cold glare before opening the door of the motel. "Okay well, thanks for the help, prince charming. Your job here is done now so you can just piss off."

He couldn't help the smirk that emerged onto his lips. No gratitude, no 'thank you', just 'piss off'. He didn't think he had ever received such a response from anyone before. He sighed, leaning against his car with arms folded. He expected to see her back in exactly...10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...and...

The motel's door jingled open. And there stood the girl, tugging her skirt lower, looking at him sheepishly. "Money." she said, clearing her throat. "I don't have any at the moment." He frowned, feigning innocence. "Oh, I see. I was just going to be off on my way since you clearly requested me so kindly to...how did you put it..oh yes...'piss off'"

She scratched her head, looking slightly embarrassed. "Look, I need a room. You have the money. So how about this. You book us a double bed suite. You look pretty tired yourself and some rest might do you some good. I'll just be a fly on the wall. I'll use the extra bed but the rest of the room is yours. You won't even notice I'm there." She promised solemnly. He looked at her curiously. Stay the night...with an absolute stranger? And that too a half drunk girl? Was it a good idea? But she was right. He WAS exhausted. He had been driving the entire night and had had no rest before starting his journey. His eyes were tired and he wasn't sure how much longer he would be able to drive without falling asleep at the wheel. After a moment's hesitation, he nodded. "Deal. But seriously. If you pull ANY kind of stunt tonight like you did by invading my car...I swear, you won't realize what hit you." She nodded quickly, suddenly agreeable to everything he said.

She coughed. "But the same thing applies to you, prince charming. If you try anything, know that I am a black belt karate champ." she lied. He looked at her unbelieving, eyebrows raised. "Yes, and Amitabh Bachan is my father. Let's go in."

Ten minutes later, they were both inside their suite. Pooja yelped in excitement, looking at the enormity of the room, bounding from space to space and examining every corner with care. "Hey! Have you ever seen a room this big?!" She asked, eyes wide with wonder. "Look at this! It's like something out of a fairytale! What's your name by the way? I'm Pooja. Oh my god do you SEE this bathroom?! The bathtub! It's big enough for two people!" She yelled, barely allowing space for a breath. Kabir rolled his eyes. That's the point, woman. Two people. One bathtub. It's a suite. He didn't say anything. He simply walked over to one of the beds, and took his shoes off. "Hey! I wanted that bed!" Pooja cried, rushing over to his side. "You can have the other one. It's by the AC and it gets cold in the night! I don't want to get sick." Kabir frowned. I guess this was the second phase of her drunkenness..sleep was gone, and now it was non-stop talking. He sighed. What had he got himself into.

"Pooja." He grumbled. "Please do me a favor and shut up. I'm sitting on this bed, so I've clearly claimed it already. And besides, I'm the one that paid for the room. So I get first choice. Now move over, get onto your bed and go the hell to sleep, woman." Saying so he threw off his black jacket into a corner of the room and turned off the light. Pooja stood to one side, mouth wide open. She glared, barely realizing that he wasn't going to notice her in the darkness of the room. "Insensitive Akdoo." She muttered, stomping over to the remaining bed and pulling the covers over her head.

He awoke at 6 A.M. after receiving less than 3 hours of sleep. He heard the sounds of shivering and turned to the bed beside him. She had the covers pulled up against her chin and her body was curled close to her chest. Her lips were quivering due to the chill caused by the air conditioning. Kabir sat up, quickly pushing aside his own covers. Without thinking, he moved to her side and slid his arms her knees, pulling her up against him. Her entire body curled towards him and with a quiet sigh, she tucked her head into his chest. Turning, he moved her into his bed and pulled up the covers. This should help with the chills, he thought as he picked up his phone from the side table. 5 missed calls and 3 messages. All of them were from his boss's assistant, Jai Kapoor.

The first message read:

He's not doing well, Kabir. Pls come ASAP. - J

The second was a simple:

Doctors are saying he won't be with us long. - J

And the third (and most confusing one) was this:

Ashok sir keeps asking for you Kabir. He refuses to speak with anyone but you. Please come as soon as you can. - J

Without another moment of hesitation, Kabir slid on his socks, shoes and jacket, gave his hair a quick brush and was ready to step out the door. He suddenly looked at the sleeping girl beside him. Making a few quick phone calls and calculations, he scribbled a note for her and left the room.

Pooja awoke several hours later with a splitting headache. Every part of her ached. Where am I? Was her first thought. She couldn't remember going home. She opened her eyes, resisting the pain the movement caused. A hotel room. She was in a hotel room. With two beds? A suite? And suddenly the memories came tumbling back. The man. She had stormed his car and then he had brought her to this hotel. She turned, trying to find any sign of him. But he seemed to be gone. I couldn't have just dreamt him up could I? she thought, feeling confused. Just as she was about to get up from the bed, she noticed the yellow sticky note on the bedside table. It read as follows:

POOJA:

Something came up. Had to rush. I've talked to the staff and have paid for your breakfast this morning. If you call the front desk, they'll bring it up to you. Here's the number for a cab. I also figured that you don't have your phone on you. Ask the hotel staff to borrow a phone and make the call. I've also left some money for you in case you need it. Get home safe.

P.S., you're annoying when you're drunk.

- Prince Charming

No name. Again. She remembered asking last night and he hadn't said anything. What kind of stranger gave a ride to a half-drunken girl, rented her a hotel room, arranged for her breakfast and travel home AND left a wad of bills? He's no less than prince charming, Pooja thought in amazement. But the question still lingered in her mind for the duration of her morning: who was this mysterious man?!

End

Since we aren't getting too many cute JaBir scenes in the show, I decided to throw some into this fan fic! Lot more drama and adventures coming up in future updates! Hope you liked reading!
