Part 5. Virendra's Proposal To Chandrakanta
The ministers reads the complaint about a man wanting to complain against his neighbour.
"Let both the men in, said Surendra and the guard nodded.
"Maharaj, this man's parrot gives bad words in front of my voice in a loud voice. Due to this, my daughter's alliance is called off several times, said complainant.
"Maharaj, my parrot can't be blamed for his daughter's alliance being called off, said accused.
"Everyone, think about a solution for this, said Surendra.
"Maharaj, put the parrot to death, said minister 1.
"Maharaj, put the owner also to death along with the parrot, said minister 2.
"Rajkumari, what do you think? asked Surendra turning to her.
"Maharaj, I don't agree with both the suggestions, replied CK.
"Then you only tell the suggestion, rajkumari instead of just sitting, taunted minister 2.
"Talk properly with rajkumari, said Surendra firmly scaring minister 2.
"Its fine, Maharaj. The more they will behave with me like this the more they will show their standard, smiled CK, "What I thought about the solution of this problem is to tell some people to stand outside (pointing to the accused)his house and give bad words all day.
"Rajkumari, my reputation, said the accused shockingly.
"You reputation is reputation and his reputation is nothing? asked CK with a smile.
The accused is speechless.
"I agree with this solution, said Surendra.
"Maharaj, she is teaching others to give bad words, said minister 3 shockingly.
"She is not teaching to give bad words but making accused realize his mistake, said Surendra.
"Will you tell stop your parrot from going in front of his house or should I send people outside your house, asked CK in a threatening scaring the accused.
"No no, rajkumari. I will do as you say, said the accused.
"If there is another complaint against you then you will be punished, warned Surendra.
The accused nodded.
"Thank you, rajkumari for helping me, said the complainant happily.
CK just smiled. Both the men left.
Another complainant and her husband come in.
"Maharaj, my husband is bringing sautan in our house and he is not letting me leave, said wife.
"Maharaj, I love both the woman. Then how can I let her leave? asked the husband.
"If you fall in love with 3rd woman tomorrow then will you marry her also? asked JA.
"May be yes, replied the husband.
"Listen, you have to let her go if you want to marry another woman, said CK.
"I can't do this, said the husband.
"Maharaj, I have a solution, said V.
"Yes say, said Surendra.
"Maharaj, we should get this woman married to another man and then the man will live with her and her 1st husband in the same house, said V with a smile.
"I can't believe that my and Virendra's opinions are matching so much, said Surendra shockingly and then smiled, "I was about to say the same thing. I agree with Virendra
"Its because he is your son, maharaj, thinks CK in mind.
"Maharaj, what are you saying? asked the husband shockingly.
"I am saying what I feel is right. If you can't share your wife with another man then how you expect your wife to share you with another woman? asked Surendra.
"Maharaj, I have realized my mistake. I won't marry another woman, replied the husband.
"But I don't want to live with you because a man like has no loyalty, said the wife.
"Don't say like this. Please forgive me, said the husband.
"I agree with your wife's decision. You did mistake so you have to pay for it, said Surendra.
"But maharaj, said the husband.
"The decision is final, said Surendra.
The estranged couple left.
The solving problems in the court went with everyone including Surendra, CK, V, TS and JA discussing the solutions of the problems. CK did not even once misuse her position but listened to everyone's opinion. V and Surendra's matched few more times to everyone's amazement.
At night, it was time for the dinner. At the royal dinner table, only Surendra, JA, TS, CK and V were supposed to eat. Padvika was brought by her daasi as she would eat with her family.
"Rajkumari, you sit there. Since rajkumar is your friend he can sit opposite you, said TS.
"Tej Singh, these seats are for eldest members of the family. We can't sit there, said CK.
"But you are the ruler, said Surendra.
"That does not matter. These seats are for you and maharani only, said CK.
"But Shiv Dutt used to sit here when he became the ruler, said Surendra.
"As I said earlier I am not Shiv Dutt so I am not sitting there, said CK.
"Okay, said Surendra.
V sat between Padvika and CK as he felt drawn to Padvika. Padvika too felt drawn to him.
"I don't know why I feel that my mother would have been like you only, said V to Padvika.
"If you get motherly feeling from maharani then you should spend time with her. You will feel nice and she too may feel nice, said CK taking advantage of their feelings.
"Yes I will, said V.
"My son may have been grown up like him only, thinks Padvika.
"Ye sab to vahi pakwaan hai jo Shiv Dutt keh raha tha ki sirf Naugarh me milta tha, said CK.
"Par aap pichhli baar khaa nahi paayi, said TS.
"Shiv Dutt ne jo harkat ki thi uske baad koi bhi khaana khaa hi nahi paaya, said CK, "Aur vo kutta kamina Jhumroo mera naam lekar Virendra ko vaha bulaaya Shiv Dutt ki seva karne.
CK realized that Maharaj and Maharani are also around awkward with the words she used.
"Aap apna chaalu rakho Jhumroo ki tareef karna, joked JA.
"Fir kabhi. Abhi ke liye itna bahot hai, smiled CK, "Ab vo sab khaana khaaunga jo uss raat nahi khaa paayi. Vaise bhi agar khaa leti to bhi Shiv Dutt ke rehne ke vajah se maza nahi aata.
All started eating.
"The food is so tasty. Kal firse ye sab banavaana. Aur chicken ke 2-3 dishes bhi, smiled CK.
"Aur kuch? asked TS with a smile.
"Aur kuch chaahiye rahega to bata doongi, replied CK with a smile.
Surendra, JA and TS who saw her as a rude and revengeful person in Vijaygarh are now seen her as a different person here. She did not insult anyone without reason. The taunts and sarcastic comments she passed on others were justifiable from her side. V would look at CK from time to time during dinner which would be noticed by others including CK too.
After dinner, V went to Padvika while Surendra was walking in the garden.
"Maharani, I don't know why I feel different around you, said V.
Padvika held his hand and kisses it. After some time, CK comes at the door. She feels happy seeing V with his mother. V sees her and smiles. CK smiles back at him.
"Usse pyaar karte ho na? whispered Padvika with a smile seeing CK at the door.
V nods sadly. Padvika has heard about their friendship from a long time and how Shiv Dutt would always be unhappy due to it. She then heard few days ago a little on that how they got separated. CK leaves from there not wanting to disturb them.
"I was raised by my father who did not gave me the love like a father should give. I had no mother and would long for mother's love. Being around you I feel different, said V.
Padvika looks at him warmly.
"I need to go now, said V and left the room.
CK was resting in her room.
"Its my 1st night in Naugarh which is obviously not after marrying Shiv Dutt, smiles CK.
V was walking around the palace. He passed by a place where all the ministers from the darbar were gossiping. Some were talking nice about CK and some were badmouthing her. The ministers who were badmouthing CK were the 3 ministers who were putting her down in the darbar. Minister 1 was Balraj Singh, minister 2 was Divakar Singh and minister 3 was Jagdeep Singh. Balraj Singh was old of Surendra's age while Divakar Singh and Jagdeep Singh were young of CK and V's age group. He hid behind a wall to listen to their talks.
"The new ruler is so nice. She is much better than Shiv Dutt, said a minister.
"She is very intelligent with the way she helped in solving problems, said another minister.
"No, she is such a dumb with the way she talks, said Divakar Singh.
"She behaves like a kid some times, said Balraj Singh.
"I don't think she behaves like a kid. Its just being sarcastic, said another minister.
"I wish she leaves Naugarh. She is so evil, said Jagdeep Singh.
"I don't think she has done anything evil till now, said another minister.
"These 3 ministers don't look good, thinks V.
Next morning, JA and TS takes V and CK on the ground for fighting practice. As they arrived, they saw 50-60 soldiers practicing there. CK was wearing a black halter neck crop top with black pants which were suitable for practice. Some soldiers were bitching about CK.
"Vo chudail khud ko pata nahi kya samajhti hai, said soldier 1.
"Usne to Maharaj Shiv Dutt ko kaid kar liya. Ab ise hi jhelna padega, soldier 2.
"Uss daayan ne to apne hi sauteli maa aur sautele ko maara hai, soldier 3.
"Kya footi kismat hai humaari. Uska bas chale to vo hum sabko bhi kaid kar de, said soldier 1.
"Aur nahi to kya? Maharaj Shiv Dutt ka saara gussa humpar hi na nikaale, said soldier 3.
"Vo to badi hi rakshasi hai. Usse sambhalkar rehkar padega, said soldier 2.
They stopped as they noticed 4 of them.
"Ruk kyu gaye? Mujhe bhi jaanna hai ki mere baare me kya kya baatein chal rahi thi, smiled CK.
"Kuch nahi rajkumariji. Hum to bas aise hi baat kar the, replied soldier 1.
"Mujhe chudail, daayan, rakshasi bolkar aise hi baat kar rahe the, smiled CK sarcastically.
"Lagta hai tum teeno ko tumhaare Maharaj Shiv Dutt ke paas jaana hai, said CK with a smile.
"Nahi nahi, rajkumariji. Hume maaf kar do. Tej Singh, hume bachao, said soldier 2.
"Rajkumari ki buraayi karte ho aur mujhe tumhe bachaane ko kehte ho? asked TS.
"Chalo, chhodo abhi ye sab aur practice pe dhyaan do varna sab yahi sochege ki tum logon ne sirf 1 ladki ke liye ladaayi ladi hai Shiv Dutt ke saath, taunted CK.
Those 3 soldiers as well as other soldiers felt embarrassed at what she said. All started practicing. CK, V, TS and JA started practicing with few soldiers. The soldiers had no doubt about V being so strong as he was a khunkhaar and him defeating SD but they were so shocked with CK knowing so much being a girl and new at these things.
A week passed since CK and V came in Naugarh. TS and JA started like CK and V and 4 of them spend a lot of time together. Surendra could not believe that a man like Virendra could be Marich's son. Surendra also wished that CK was his daughter as he sees her as his daughter he always wished for. Padvika too liked CK. Padvika still felt different when V was around her. V and Padvika would also spend time together. Naugarh family was aware of V and CK's past and hoped that everything becomes well between them. They know that V truly loves CK and wishes CK to realize it. Those 3 ministers sometimes passed taunting comments on CK and V too but they handled them. CK would contact with her family and aiyyars through letters. Majority of the soldiers respected CK most of whom were loyal to Surendra. The people in the court too liked CK expect those 3 ministers. CK was liked by the majority of people in the palace because even though she insult and taunt some people who would hate her and pass comments on her but she would not unnecessarily trouble anyone like Shiv Dutt did. From the time she came she never hurt Surendra, Padvika, JA and TS to remove SD's anger on them. V and CK were getting closer to each other. CK was not liking to sit on the yuvraj's seat in the darbar which is actually V's place. She wants to tell everyone the truth as soon as possible.
In the afternoon, CK had received a letter from her father. She was reading it in the corridor. V and JA were passing by. CK had not seen them as she was busy with reading the letter.
"Aapke sasurji ka patra padh rahi hai, teased JA to V from far making V glare at him.
"Vo sun legi, said V.
They left from there before she could see them.
In the evening, Surendra, JA, TS, V and CK were in TS's room.
"Tej Singh, where is your father coming back? asked Surendra.
"Tomorrow or day after tomorrow, replied TS.
"I heard about him from pitaji, said CK.
"He had taken a leave for some months, said TS.
"It will be nice meeting him, said V.
CK asked Surendra, "You are such a nice king. Pitaji said a lot about you to me. Then how come your coup(taktha palat) can happen so easily due to Shiv Dutt?
He, JA and TS were shocked with her question.
"You raised this question on your 1st day of coming here too, said JA.
"Why you are asking this question, rajkumari? asked Surendra.
"Because if someone can do coup of such a great king like you then it can happen with rajkumari too. Something is wrong in your kingdom, replied V.
The other 3 men looked at him with wonder.
"You are saying right, rajkumar, said TS.
"And how come no one protested against Shiv Dutt? asked CK.
"That we too are trying to figure out, replied JA.
"Shiv Dutt and Jhumroo can't do all these planning alone, said Surendra.
"As I said earlier, all this happened when you 3 were not around, said CK.
"We soon need to find who helped Shiv Dutt, said Surendra and others nodded.
At night, V called CK in his room at night after dinner.
"This is our last night here, said V.
"Yes, we will leave tomorrow, said CK.
"Only I will leave tomorrow not you, thinks CK in mind.
"What are you thinking? asked V.
"Nothing, replied CK.
They talked for some time. After some time, V decided to tell his feelings to her.
V asked, "Yaad hai tumne ek baar poochha tha ki kya tumhe mere sapnon me jagah mil sakti hai. Aaj main tumse poochhta hu ki kya tum mere sapnon ka hissa banna chaahti ho?
CK is shocked and looks at him carefully as V waits for the response.
"Main tumhaare sapnon aur hakeekat dono ka hissa banna chaahti hu, replied CK with a smile.
V smiled back at her accepting his proposal and hugged her happily. CK hugged him back. They remained in each other's embrace for a few minutes.
After breaking the hug, CK said, "Virendra, I want to tell you something important tomorrow.
"What? asked V.
"You will know tomorrow, replied CK.

"I have to imprison you so that you don't spoil my plan of taking over Vijaygarh. Come with me now, said V who was holding CK's hand and she was too shocked to react at his betrayal.
"Leave her. You are not doing right, said TS.
"Since I am the new ruler now, you will listen to me. You only take her to the prison now, said V.
TS looked at CK who was looking sad and still not reacting.
"No, said TS, "I once made a mistake by working with a wrong king but not now.
CK, JA and Surendra smiled while V looked at him with anger with what he said.
