Hema Malini - The Original Dancing Queen

Hema Malini a dancing diva in her own right is the latest actor turned judge. The Bollywood actress will join Jeetendra as a judge on a new reality show Dancing Queen.

Speaking about the show, she says "This show is about dance and that is something that is close to my heart. So I thought why not give this a try. In this show participants are aspiring dancers and this concept is quite interesting so I liked it. I could not agree to judge any other show as I am dancer so I wanted to do a reality show related to dance only."

The senior actress says she is very clear about what she will be on the look out for. "It is easy for regular dancers to judge any performer. But here the mentors are also very good as are the dancers. They know their job very well. Our job is to look how these mentors will guide these contestants in getting better," she says, "The contestants need to be strong physically and mentally also while performing. All these contestants are very young. I do not know whether judging this show is going to be more difficult for me or for these contestants. We have seen them in two episodes and all of them are very good. I will not suggest any concept or anything…whatever they will perform, I will judge them on basis of that."

About her co-judge Jeetendra she says, "See we have been very good friends for years. We have worked together in films also and now after a long gap we have got a chance to work together so we are both happy."

When asked about whether she would like to perform in the show the senior actress says, "I think you have seen us performing a lot of time so now it is time for them to see these contestants. There are so many talented people in India and they will get a platform here in such a show."

So who is dancing queen for you?

"Vaijayantimala! She was best dancer that time and till today. Now also she performs…even at the age 70 so she is the true dancing queen. It is amazing to watch her performing and she has continued to maintain her dignity and grace up till now. Those are the real dancing queens," says the actress who is equally famous for her skills as a dancer.
