This could actually happen as it fits yrkkh standards for a WD. In SNS the family goes on a picnic (similar to Gen 3) and then Gopi trips and drops Meera in a pond. Kokila blames her for the death and Gopi leaves the house on her own will while being pregnant (just like Akshu)

Post leap Gopi becomes a teacher and is a single mother with her daughter Vidya. Rashi handles the family while Ahem and Kokila are depressed.
