noorjahan was far better drama even though written by zanjabeel

Only seen Tere Bin of Nooran and she glorified misogynistic tropes there

Zanjabeel for me is the best commercial writer of Pak, I have seen most of her dramas and she is very good

Don't know why she has bad reputation but she can't write romance well, she adds a lot of trauma to it

About KRQ, more than him it is whole setting which is extremely regressive like they don't allow normal scenes between husband and wife but abuse is being broadcasted

Someone like him is getting a platform every week to say stuff which in any other nation would have him canceled and in India, he'd be in jail because hurting a woman's dignity is a crime AFAIK

Yup

She was constantly covering herself, shaking, nervous, she backed out when he walked towards her in fear, she was desperate and helpless

I understand her position, she lost one member and is going to lose another because they don't have money

Her father did everything to get money, she even assumed that he asked Bilal too but he denied so her opinion of him was too low, she came there with resentment in her heart for him and his supposed actions which led to her father's death

There is urgency, Bilal doesn't know that she needed money for her brother's treatment but he didn't judge her

I don’t know what situation would lead to that, but I don't judge women for it that's just my personal opinion, losing your loved ones and being solely responsible for their life is not easy

Agreed with you.

Also, if you ask me, this scene was not to tarnish Sadaf's character or to show the FL in the bad light - all those deliberate inputs of that scene you mentioned; her hesitation, not being able to look up most of the time, her nervousness, constantly covering herself, fear and every other little detail, screamed that this is not where she ever wanted herself to be! Contrary to popular belief, I think it is also not to glorify Bilal - it was not to show how good he is that when he had the chance to take whatever he needed from her, when she was freely offering herself, he decided to be the gentlemen and greater human and rejected the offer! I see it as a sort of Bilal's reality check - a mirror showing him what he has become in his emotionally-drained, materialistic world. It is totally about Bilal's character growth!

I agree with this. He didn’t answer the escort’s call and is destroying all his wine bottles.

Right?

The whole shift is for Bilal, a casanova felt bad that he wasn't considered for anything else but his bad habits and he is going to quit all of them.

They should have taken some other actor for Ammar’s role. Usama was awful today.

The point here is, not about deciding what is right and wrong as the way we see it, rather understanding the perspective of the character. An act that may not be justified and looks illogical for us, can be 'justified' by the character's view point. Before her father's death, Sadaf was this chirpy, bubbly girl, who seems slightly immature at certain instances and was sheltered within a wonderful family. Just one incident - bang! she find herself at a such a dreadful juncture in her life. Her father was the sole bread-winner of the family, she is unemployed, she has a young sibling and a grieving mother to look after with no financial stability - so, she needed to grow up and shoulder her responsibilities amidst her own loss.

If all that was not enough for her to grapple with, she learned that her brother is critically ill, his treatment needs a large amount of money which needed to be arranged as soon as possible AND her father has listed their house, he may have considered all other possible options and lack of any was what have costed her father's life. They may not have any collaterals for loans, she has no job and no financial independence - she is a total novice in the 'money' department. The only thing she knows, she is not willing to give up her brother's life, not after the loss of her father. So, she turned up in front the only person she knew who has access to that much of quick cash - her desperation to find money any way possible, by doing anything cannot be judged. And if anything, the scene was perfectly enacted and executed - she was putting up a brave facade, offering whatever Bilal wanted, but you could see that she was terrified, breaking apart within, but she was pulling herself together with the sole purpose of saving her brother!

THIS.

Thanks for saying this.Thats one of the reasons y I started to watch shows with a certain amount of openness so that I can understand the characters’ perspectives better.Even if I don’t agree with them, I understand the complexity of their choices.

I recently saw a beautiful Malayalam movie, Ullozhukku(means undercurrents)— it is a story of a young wife who seeks happiness outside of the institution as she is unhappy in her marriage. So wanna ask which place in the morality spectrum will she fall under? This woman was taunted by circumstances that led her to seek a life outside of marriage and the beauty of this movie is - it embraced these flawed humans without an iota of judgement. Here in SMD, the female protagonist makes a decision, and it seems hurried BUT we can see where that decision came from. And ppl start harping about self respect , izzat, decency n all sorts of name calling....Y do we put a number on women?

Ok I think I watch tv shows very differently than some people. I don’t necessarily watch them with my own morality compass…it’s entertainment to me at the end of the day. I don’t think they are trying to glorify anything negative in this. It’s controversial for sure but it makes for interesting tv sometimes but it definitely isn’t for everyone and that’s fine.

Having said that, I think personal experience also affects perspective. Just sharing something personal, a bit painful to talk about but I lost my sister to cancer a few years ago. I cannot tell how painful it was getting a poor prognosis and dealing with the thought of losing a loved one. Especially with a terrible prognosis, time is NOT on your side.

I think Sadaf looking for alternative ways to get that kind of money is out the question in my opinion. Bilal is accessible to her and has that type of money…she didn’t have the time or resources for an alternative. I know I wouldn’t and I can understand why that would be her first option. I’m not saying that I would offer the same thing she did (definitely not) but I was never in position of needing a large sum of money I didn’t have. I can say though that desperation makes you do weird, out of character things. My Iman/faith is very strong but I started resorting to people who said they could help with some ritualistic practices but honestly it was things that went against my own faith. It didn’t even make sense but you do weird things in your desperation. My sister refused to do some of things reminding me how it was totally against our faith and I’m now grateful that she did. Sometimes the person going through something like this is much stronger than family members that are terrified to lose them. You can definitely lose yourself.

I think if anything this made it clear that this isn’t a case of good girl vs. bad girl but rather that sometimes it’s more about circumstances. To me, this was more of reflection of what she thought Bilal stood for. It made him self reflect that this is what he was reduced to in someone’s eyes.

I do think Sadaf offered herself a few too many times, lol and she would be making a huge mistake if this went through. I think she wanted to make it crystal clear that she was willing to do whatever it takes for the money. It was a mistake on her part but I don’t feel it made her a bad person. I also don’t think this was demeaning to women. It was a moment of desperation, vulnerability and weakness. Add to that, her making assumptions about Bilal’s character. Is it morally wrong? Yes and I think so too. She lost that part of her self-respect in the process. However I can empathize with her situation and I think it makes it a more of an interesting character to see good people make bad decisions. It veers further away from the concept of good/decent vs. bad/immoral.
