40.6 Jadeja to Brathwaite, no run, what happened there? The batter almost yorked himself. The ball dribbled off the inside edge and spun past the sticks. Kishan tried to stump the batter but failed to gather it. The keeper whipped the bails without the ball in his hands. That's an action packed last ball off a day which saw a lot of attritional cricket. Stumps on day 2

Virat Kohli: I really enjoyed myself out there. I was in the rhythm I wanted to be in. Started off in challenging times. I switch on during these times. When I have something to overcome, I get charged up. I had to be patient as the outfield was slow. It was very satisfying as I had to do the hard yards. I have got 15 centuries away from home. I have got few fifty plus scores. I just have to focus on what I have to do for the team. I try to help the team. These stats and milestones mean something to me when the team needs me. Firstly, very grateful I got to play 500 games for India. I looked after myself. Training, sleep cycle, rest and diet. Converting 1 into 2s is easy runs for me. It helps me to stay off pressure. Fitness helps me in all formats. I can field with intensity in all formats. I want to keep playing at the top of my fitness ability. West Indies and India go a long way. It is a special occasion for me. Couldn't have asked a better beginning to the Test. There is a sense of history to this ground. The crowd loves their cricket here. Anitgua and here are my two favourite venues here. Adelaide in Australia and Bull Ring in South Africa are my favorites as well. The wicket is slow. Wickets in bunches won't come. If we can stay in the game and put the scoring rate down, hopefully we can get a few wickets.

5:33pm. Day 2, stumps: West Indies show resistance after being flat on day 1. The day, of course, will be highlighted by Virat Kohli bringing up his century, the first one scored overseas since 2018, but Brathwaite and Chanderpaul's slow-and-steady start has allowed the visitors to stay in the game. Warrican and Roach were among the wickets for West Indies. In West Indies' reply, the openers were compact and secure, India's bowlers were consistent and kept the scoring rate down. Chanderpaul perished in the process of taking on Jadeja but his skipper along with the debutant, McKenzie, has taken them to safely. Ashwin didn't find his rhythm as well as he'd have liked but troubled the batters on occasion. Jadeja bowled maidens for fun and broke past Chanderpaul's defence. Mukesh, on debut, was consistent with his lines and lengths and bowled in the early to mid 130s on a docile wicket.

Windies would be the happier team going into stumps on day 2. India amassed 438 runs but Windies openers started off solidly and put up 71 runs for the first wicket before Chanderpaul lost his patience to a fuller ball from Jadeja. But McKenzie and Brathwaite did well post that.

India will have a heavy workload tomorrow as the wicket is on the slower side. The spinners - Ashwin and Jadeja - might as well bowl the bulk of the overs. The key to this wicket is patience as Kohli pointed out as well. Windies were patient and ensured India didn't get to 500. Kirk McKenzie has looked positive and would hope to get a few runs on day 3. Brathwaite has one method which has come good for him and he will continue grinding out the opposition on day 3. Tomorrow has to be the moving day. Will any team grab hold of complete momentum? We shall have the answers. Join us tomorrow...

Virat Kohli: I really enjoyed myself out there. I was in rhythm in which I wanted to be. I always looked at pressure as an opportunity to stand up for my team. I switch on myself in the contest and it gets the best out of me. I took my time, they were bowling in good areas when I walked in so I had to take my time. The outfield wasn't quick and fluent as it should have been. (on scoring an away hundred after 5 years) These are things for others to talk. I have got 15 hundreds away from home, that's not a bad record. I have got more hundreds away than at home. The key is to do well to the best of my ability. We haven't played 30 matches away from home and I have got a few fifty-plus scores. I want to contribute as much as possible. If I get 50 the feeling is I missed out on a 100, if I get 120 the feeling is I missed out on a double hundred. These stats and milestones mean nothing in 15 years' time, what they will remember is if I left an impact or not. I am grateful to play 500 games for India. I never imagined. It's all hard work. It's the commitment you give to the sport you are playing which gives you the result. For me converting 1 into 2 is easy runs and I am never going to leave that opportunity. I'm not someone who will wait for a period where I score a bunch of boundaries off 10 balls. If I am scoring six boundaries, I am already batting on 90 which keeps me off pressure. My fitness helps me switch between formats easily. I feel I can bat 300 balls, bat at a good strike rate and keep my intensity high. I am committed to play the game at my best fitness abilities. West Indies and India go a long way. It is a special occasion for me. Couldn't have asked for a better beginning to the Test. There is a sense of history to this ground. The crowd loves their cricket here. Antigua and here are my two favourite venues in the Caribbean. Adelaide in Australia and The Bullring in South Africa are my favourites as well. The wicket is slow. We have to be patient. Wickets in bunches won't come. If we can stay in the game and put the scoring rate down, hopefully we can get a few wickets.

West Indies were 86 for 1 at stumps on Day 2 in reply to India's first innings of 438 all out in the second Test in Trinidad.

Indian bowlers were able to get just one West Indies wicket in the post-tea session, with Ravindra Jadeja giving the breakthrough by dismissing opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul (33)

West Indies showed the better application to start well against India in the first innings. On a slow surface, both openers - Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul stitched a 71-run stand for the first wicket before Jadeja gave India the first breakthrough.

Debutant Kirk McKenzie looked impressive with his solid defence and some good-looking shots as West Indies ends the day’s play, trailing by 352 runs.
